This course requires about 160 hrs of student’s learning time over the course of the semester. The 160 hours include the 56 hrs of meeting or in class
interaction. You must allocate and manage the balance of the hours in searching, reading the literature, writing the proposal and doing the exercises alone

presentation, article reading / topic discussion and individual presentation)

Group Case Study (New)

Each group will be assigned ONE (1) case study. The number of groups shall follow the
number of group report. Each group need to discuss the case study in the UFUTURE.
Student’s participation in the case study discussions will be assessed as below:
• Explain the background of the problem.
• Identify any 2-3 key points on the government operations on the problem.
• Critiques any 2-3 relevant strategic choices implemented to solve the problem.
• Support the discussion with 2-3 related articles.

Presentation (Individual assessment)

This presentation only requires student to prepare a handout or slide for the presentation. The
suggested content are as follows:

Presentation 1
• Identify the project/program/campaign initiated by the government - social problems
that require immediate actions from the government with supporting newspaper
articles (a minimum of 5 articles published from 2015 – now should be referred).
• Identify the problem cause and background the project/program/campaign (vision,
mission and objectives).
• State the stakeholder & shareholder involved in the program.
• Determine the related ministry/department/agency/statutory body that have the
authority in solving it.
• Identify & analyse the program with the mandate (which one); NKRA, GTP, NEM, 1
Malaysia etc- if any.

Presentation 2
• Discuss the strategic analysis and strategic choices of the project/program/campaign.
• Discuss the implementation of the project/program/campaign.
• Suggest recommendation on the measuring and feedback based on the vision,
mission and objectives of the project/program/campaign.

Group Report

Your task is to prepare a report based on the suggested content in the Presentation
(Individual assessment) above.

Suggested list of societal problems:


• Crime
• Unemployment
• Pollution
• Poverty
• Etc

Example of the Program: NBOS6: MY KAMPUNG MY FUTURE. (Depending on the current


government’s initiative)

Assignment requirements/ face to face meetings:


• Each group should consist of 4 - 5 members or SIX (6) groups.
• The assignment will focus on one major issue/problem only.
• Written work: 7 – 15 pages, Font 11, Arial
• Report must be submitted online after the presentation.

Activities/ non-face to face meetings:


• Form a group; identify group leader and jobs to be delegated
• Discuss with lecturers on problem for further analysis
• Identify sources of information and knowledge
• Obtain letter for permission if interviews and meetings with the agency are required
• Gather all information and brainstorm group members for final analysis and
submission.

Final Examination

The final examination will cover 4 chapters but only 3 chapters selected for long essay
questions. (Strategic formulation, strategic analysis, strategic implementation and strategic
evaluation)
Format: Answer all THREE (3) long essay questions (3 question x 20 marks = 60 marks) – No
introduction/conclusion.
Duration: 2 hours.
