local resident.
Facts of the Case: According to the

investigation and CCTV footage, the
elderly suspect, Nenita Pagatpatan,
was seen dumping the body of the
victim using a loaded cart covered in
a canvass (trapal). The victim, Sheila
Han-ay Lagwasay, had suffered a

wound on the back of her head,
possibly from a hard object, and also
had stab wounds to the back and
face. The suspect has a daughter, but
she was not in the house during the
incident.

2. On June 18, 2023 at approximately 6:30 a.m., a lifeless body of a 29-year-old

woman, identified as Sheila Han-ay Lagwasay, was discovered at Blk. 20 Lot
44, Deca Homes Subdivision, Brgy. Cabantian, Davao City. The victim had
sustained a head wound, likely from a blunt object, and had stab wounds on
the back of the head, and other parts of the body.
3. No eyewitnesses or acquaintances of the victim were found during initial

inquiries. However, a crucial CCTV footage obtained from a nearby
establishment revealed suspicious activity. Police investigation revealed
CCTV footage showing the suspect, an old woman, pulling a loaded cart
covered in a canvass (trapal) and dumping it at the crime scene. Traces of
blood discovered in the vicinity led investigators to the residence of Nenita
and her daughter. There was initial denial by the house owners (Nenita and
daughter) regarding any knowledge of the incident. Kathryn Pagatpatan,
Nenita’s daughter, later identified the victim as their helper after reviewing the
CCTV footage. Nenita initially denied being the person in the CCTV footage.
But, similarities in clothing and items found in the house, such as the folded
cart and canvas, raised suspicion.

2. In connection with the above references, request be informed that the victim,
Sheila Han-ay Lagwasay, was found to have suffered a cerebral hemorrhage,
attributed to the use of a heavy tool. Examination revealed multiple wounds
on various body parts. Her sister, Aiza Lagsaway, revealed that Sheila, the
victim, had been mistreated by the head owner – Nenita, prompting her to
advise her sister to resign.
3. Meanwhile, Nenita initially denied being the person in the CCTV footage. She
falsely implicated Sheila's husband in the crime during initial questioning. But
the police found that the victim’s husband was in Cagayan prison since June
14, 2023, and did not visited Sheila.

2. The victim, Sheila Han-ay Lagwasay, 29 years old, native of Don Marcelino,
Davao Occidental, was murdered by Nenita Pagatpatan, 74 years old, widow,
residing at Blk. 9, Lot 6, Deca Homes Subdivision, Cabantian, Davao City.
The victim suffered a cerebral hemorrhage which resulted from blunt force
trauma inflicted with a heavy tool. Multiple wounds were observed on hands,
legs, face, and other body parts.
3. Crucial footage obtained from a nearby establishment revealed the suspect,

Nenita, disposing of the victim's body using a trolley/cart. Similarities in
clothing and items found in the house confirmed Nenita's presence at the
crime scene. Initial lack of witnesses or acquaintances led investigators to the
crime scene through traces of blood. The residence of Nenita and her
daughter was identified as the location where the crime occurred.
4. Timeline of Events:
a. Aiza, Sheila’s younger sister, revealed that she reported mistreatment
and strained relations with her employer, Nenita.
b. On June 17th, Nenita assaulted Sheila with a 2x3 wood, rendering her
unconscious.
c. Nenita's attempt to conceal the crime was interrupted by her daughter's
unexpected return. She falsely claimed Sheila had left with her
husband that prompted her daughter to search for Sheila.
d. Nenita cleaned the crime scene and later disposed of Sheila's body
using a trolley/cart, captured on CCTV.
5. During police interrogation, Nenita initially denied involvement in the crime.

But six (6) days later, she confessed to assaulting Sheila with a wood and a
flower pot. Nenita harbored a deep-seated grudge against the victim for
reporting her actions to her daughter, resulting in reprimands.
6. Nenita Pagatpatan has been formally charged with Murder and related
offenses. Nenita Pagatpatan's confession, coupled with substantial evidence,
establishes her as the perpetrator.

III. FACTS OF THE CASE

On June 18, 2023, Sheila Han-ay Lagwasay, 29, was killed and found at Blk.
20 Lot 44, Deca Homes Subdivision, Brgy. Cabantian, Davao City. She suffered a
cerebral hemorrhage and multiple wounds inflicted by a heavy tool.
IV. INVESTIGATION/FINDINGS
a. Sheila's death was discovered by a local resident but was lacking of

witnesses which led investigators to the crime scene via traces of blood.
b. Sheila had reported mistreatment by Nenita, worsening her relations with her.
c. On June 17th, Nenita assaulted Sheila with a 2x3 wood, rendering her
unconscious.

V. CONCLUSION
The investigation has uncovered the circumstances surrounding Sheila Han-

ay Lagwasay's murder which implicated Nenita Pagatpatan as the perpetrator.
VI. RECOMMENDATION/DISPOSITION
a. There will be formal charges against Nenita Pagatpatan for murder and
related offenses.
b. The provision of necessary support and counseling to Sheila's family will be
provided.
c. The police will conduct a thorough review of any systemic issues contributing
to this incident.
