UNRAST 6 (18)

Rasters are biomechanical creatures that use antigravity suspensors and batlike wings
with a span of 30 feet (9 m) to carry themselves aloft at great speed despite their size.
Sometimes they’re caught, tamed, and trained as mounts. Other times, they are parasitized
by a horrific, tic-like creature that immobilizes the raster, eats away the lower body, hollows
out the chest where it inserts itself, and uses the remaining upper body to hunt for prey,
including other rasters. The resulting creature is called an unrast.

Environment: Anywhere rasters are found, which is usually not far from water
Health: 22
Damage Inflicted: 6 points
Armor: 3
Movement: Long while flying; short while on the ground or swimming
Modifications: Speed defense as level 5 due to some stiffness in movements.
Combat: The parasitoid uses its half “living” raster body to fly and directly controls the
energy generator in a raster’s head that fires bursts of invisible energy (long range, 6
points of damage).
In addition, as part of the same action, an unrast can
use one of its own abilities:
Hardening Spittle: Short-range attack in
the form of a stream of chemicals
that increases the difficulty of the
PC’s next action by three steps.
Double Image: By interacting with a
raster’s biomechanical systems,
the parasitoid can create a
hologram of itself near the character,
increasing the difficulty of the PC’s
next attack by two steps.
Jettison Body: If it would be killed, the
unrast instead jettisons the raster
portion of its body, and retains
whatever health it had before the
separation. The raster body flies
off in one direction while the
parasitoid drops down, preferably
into water, to make its escape.
Interaction: Unrasts are vicious
predators.
Use: A team of raster riders opens their
stable and discovers that their
rasters have been parasitized.
The riders barely escape
with their lives and seek
