PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT PROGRAM

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is apparel used or worn by a worker to protect him against risks and
hazards existing in his work environment. It is the policy of C. D PRINCETON NIGERIA LIMITED (CDPNL) to
provide necessary personal protective equipment for all employees.

However, it must be pointed out that personal protective equipment does not prevent or indemnify
workplace incidents/accidents. They can only minimize the worker’s exposure to hazard or reduce the
gravity of the injury sustained. A worker would be making serious mistake if he deliberately exposed
himself to risks just because he is putting on personal protective equipment.

For effectiveness, the right type of personal protective equipment will be provided. This requires knowledge of
the hazards existing in the work place. Such protective equipment must conform to existing standards in
the area. Employees and visitors to any work site of C. D PRINCETON NIGERIA LIMITED shall wear
necessary PPE.

The following are examples of personal protective equipment required in the projects and its specified
job situations.
Safety helmets (Hardhats) must be worn at all times in working areas.
The head must be protected against flying particles, falling load or hitting it against objects.
Safety goggles or face shields must be worn when using a grinding wheel, blasting, hammering, and chiseling
and when working with chemicals. Goggles must also be worn when the eyes are exposed to dangerous lights
such as during welding operations.

Respiratory Apparatus must be worn to protect against inhalation of dust, toxic fumes and dangerous
gases/chemicals.

Nose Masks must be used during spray painting.

Hand Gloves protect the hands and fingers from burns (both from heat and chemicals). They must be worn
before handing caustic soda, acids, sharps and hot objects. Also, when lifting heavy and hard objects.

Ear Protection (earmuffs or plugs) must be worn at all times in high noise areas.

Safety Shoes/Boots protect the feet and ankles from impact and punctures. All workers must wear
them. The company provides rain boots for Wet conditions and swamp.
Other protective equipment such as raincoats, coveralls, Kneepads, creams and legging will be provided
as andwhen necessary. Damaged personal protective equipment will be discarded.
