WRITTEN SAFE WORK PROCEDURE – FORM 3

1. OBJECTIVE
1. To prevent injuries to employees and / or property damage incidents.

2. PROCEDURE
1. Do pre-use inspection of all equipment to be used and replace or repair faulty items.
2. Use trained competent employees only.
3. Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment i.e.:
3.1. Hardhat.
3.2. Safety boots.
3.3. Overalls.
3.4. Eye protection.
3.5. Face protection

Prior to work commencement

1. Must have PPE – safety footwear, gloves, hardhat, goggles, face musk, protective clothing etc.
2. Must have appropriate tools and equipment in good condition.
3. Must have weatherproof covers for materials and equipment, waste containers, warning tape.
4. Consider risks and hazards in work area. Refer any concerns to supervisor. Are relevant permits in place?
5. Check if it is necessary to secure area adjacent to work. Refer to supervisor if appropriate.
6. Arrange for transport of materials and equipment to site via supervisor.
7. Ensure materials and equipment are secure or removed when site unattended, eg overnight or during breaks.

1. Task to be performed by competent operatives, TBT to be carried out prior to start, PPE (Wellington boots, safety eye wear, rubber
gloves) to be used.
2. Reversing to be controlled by Flagman (Diesel Tanker, Concrete truck).
3. Concrete truck to be washed in designated area only.
4. Exclusive zone to be established. Competent driver to drive
5. Bund to be design by competent Engineer.(Bund capacity is 110% of the storage tank capacity).
6. Tasks to be carried out by competent persons under proper supervision
7. Competent person to drive, use designated route, Flagman to control the vehicular movements
8. Use only tested lifting equipment and lifting gears and certificates must be available. Inspect visually prior to start lifting. Establish
exclusive zone. slinging to be done by competent Rigger
9. Establish exclusive zone, use tested gears, competent rigger to control lifting & adequate supervision
10. Use designated route, Flagman to control the reversing, competent person to drive
11. Refuelling to be done by competent person, spillage to be avoided during the refilling.
12. No naked flame or smoking allowed near the storage area. All sources of ignition to be removed from storage area, Ensure
adequate number of fire extinguishers at hand, tank to be earthed by competent person to avoid static electrical fire. Selected
number of personnel to be trained in basic fire fighting. Initiate Evacuation procedure in case fire is too large.
13. Ensure that security guards on duty. Ensure adequate lighting during night. Delivery pumps to be locked and sealed.

On completion
1. Tidy up, clear site, remove and transport equipment and surplus materials to store. Dispose of waste to Estates skip as appropriate do
not dispose down drains, wash basins etc.
2. Report completion to supervisor and local staff.
3. Sign off any relevant work permit.
