ПЕРЕДМОВА

Не підлягає жодному сумніву, що англійська мова займає важливу


позицію в сучасному суспільстві. Будучи мовою міжнародного спілкування,
вона знайшла широке використання в різних галузях, а саме в управлінні,
господарстві, освітньо-науковій сфері, політиці, спорті, культурі тощо.
Англійська була і залишається мовою сучасного суспільства, і вивчається
майже в кожній країні світу.
Саме це на думку багатьох педагогів ставить перед ними першочергову
мету - створення сприятливих умов для ефективного вивчення англійської
мови. Основна мета викладання іноземної – формування комунікативної
компетентності та у вихованні – життєспроможного громадянина нашої
країни. Таким чином, наріжним каменем, що постає перед сучасними
вчителями іноземної мови є вміння навчити вільно без будь-який перешкод
спілкуватися з носіями мови. Досягнення цієї мети можливо завдяки
комплексному формуванню всіх чотирьох видів мовленнєвої діяльності:
аудіювання, читання, письма та мовлення.
Дана збірка контрольних робіт передбачає комплексну перевірку та
об‘єктивне оцінювання рівня мовної та мовленнєвої компетенції учнів. Вона
містить тести, спрямовані на перевірку знань лексичного та граматичного
матеріалу за темами передбаченими чинною програмою та Державним
стандартом. Спрямованість контрольних робіт полягає в перевірці засвоєної
лексики, граматики та мовленнєвих умінь учнів: аудіювання, читання,
письма, мовлення.

READING COMPREHENSION

HIGH LEVEL

The cranberry is a North American fruit that grows on a bush. It is rather small,
round, red and very bitter. American Indians used them for food and medicine.
When settlers first came from England in 1600s,they liked these berries too. The
settlers had never seen the berries before.
They decided to call them ―crane berries‖, because birds called cranes ate them.
The cranberry bush doesn‘t grow everywhere in the United States. In fact, it
grows only in five states. These states have the special conditions that the
cranberry bush needs.
Cranberries ripen when the weather starts to become cold. We can see them in
the shop s in autumn. Many people eat cranberries as part of the feast of
Thanksgiving in November.
Sometimes cranberries are cooked and made into some sauce or jelly. They
taste less bitter after they are cooked. The best cranberries are the ones that bounce
down seven steps!

Hi Vicky,
Thanks for your postcard. Last week I was on holiday with my friend Carol and
her family. We went into town after lunch on Monday. It was very hot and there
were a lot of people. Carol‘s mum and dad wanted a drink and they went to a snack
bar. Carol and I went shopping. We bought some clothes and then went into the

music shop. After about an hour, we wanted to find Carol‘s mum and dad, but we
were lost!
We didn‘t know the name of the snack bar and we didn‘t have the directions. I
was very scared. Then Carol saw a police officer and she walked with us to the
snack bar. We were very happy to see Carol‘s parents!

MIDDLE LEVEL

Peter is in his tree house. He is counting his cards. Peter collects cards with
basketball players on them. His collection has more than a hundred cards now. He
keeps them in his album.

Peter‘s tree house is fantastic. It‘s made out of wood. It has a small door, two
windows and an old blue carpet. There are little toy cars in one corner and a
telescope near one of the windows. Peter can see what happens all around the
garden. There is a small wooden ladder at the tree. The There is also a thick rope
outside the door, which he sometimes uses to get down. He usually uses the ladder
because the rope is old now.

A Washing Day With The Smiths

Mrs. Hilary Smith and Her Daughters

Mrs. Hilary Smith works in a big tourist agency in New York. Five days a
week she is very busy. That is why her daughters Dorothy and Margaret always
help their mother about the house. Once a week they clean their apartment and
make it spick and span. Mag dusts the furniture and window sills, and waters the
flowers. Then Mag sweeps the floor with a broom and shakes the rags. She cleans
the carpets with a vacuum-cleaner, too. And at last, she washes the floor with a
mop and a floor cloth.
Dorothy is responsible for the kitchen. She cleans the kitchen sink, the gas
cooker and the refrigerator. She washes the dishes, too.
Mrs. Hilary Smith`s daughters are very neat. They always put things where
they belong.
