l. Scope
This standard covers the general properties of p*Iymethyl methxcryJate resin molding materials {hereinafterrcferred to
as "molcling materials") us*a fn, automotive piastic parts. Th€ molding materials shall meet a part perfor*ance criteria
and material specificationt whieh are specified in separate standards.
Yhe parts maele of rna{erials provided by this standard shall comply u.ith HTSZ000lG.

2. Classification and Desigrration


The classification and desigrration of molding materials are specified irr Tablc 1. When a molding matcrial requires
spccial pcrformance, the fotrlowing suffixcd lelters are addecl to the material codes.

3. Qualily
The properties of the molding materials shall be tested in accordance with Section 4, judged by Section 5, ancl the results
shall meet the crit€ria specifietl in Tables 2 or 3, and 4.

H TS M05 02G, Accelerated Envi ronment? I Stress Crack Test etc. ).

4.1 Old-Jls-Compliant Test Method
4.1.1 General 'Iesting Conditions
Unle*s otherwise xpecified in the part antl materialstandards, the test shall be eonducted under ttre canditi*ns

4.1 .6 Hardness Measurement Test


In accordance with Section 9.9, HTStr\40501C. Conduct lhe test in thc atmrxplrere of 23*2 oC, and measure on M-
Scale with Rockwell hardness.
4,l.? Heat Deflection lkmper&turs Me**urement Test
In accordance with Section 9.6, HTSM050lC. Conduct the lest at flexural stresses of 1820 kPa arld 455 kPa.
4.2lS0{ompliant Test Method
4.2.I General Testing Conditions
The test shall,be conducted underlhe conditions snecified in the following (l) through (4).
(l) Conditioning
Candition the test samples and/or specimens prior to the test in accordance with Section 2.4, HTSM0506C.
{2) Atmosphere
ln accordance with Section ?.4, HT$M0506G.
(3) Preparation ofTest Specimens
In accordance with Sestion ?, HTSMS506S.
(4) Number of Test Specimens

4.2.2 Density Measurement Test

Conduct the test under the method specified in Section 3.2, HTSM0506G. Tcnsile speed shall be 50 mmimin in yicld

4.2.5 Deflection Temperature under Load Measurement Test

4.3.2 Paint Adhcsion Test
Apaint adhesinn test shall be eonducted, only when parts: are indicated uoating on drarvings
(1) Painting
Paintthe tesl specimens {100s 100e3 mm), which are moldsd under the propercarditisn$ fbrthe molding rnaterial,
using by thc same paint as the field production use.
(2) lnitial adhesion test
Make crisscross-pattern slits with a razor-sharp cutter to form I 00 squares of a I x I Sm size for a single coated
specimen or a2x2 mm size for a double coated specimen on the substratc of the painted s,pecimen. Then carry out
the adhesion tcst in accordance with Section 2. I , HTSH 1503G by using an attach adhesive lapc to pull off the tayer
ofpaint
(3) Water rcsistancc tcst
Water resistance tr:st sl.rall be required whsr the molding nraterials are used for exterior applications. Immerse the
painted specimens spccified in (l) in hot water of 40*l oC for 240 h.'fhen, wipe offthe rvater with a dry cloth,
make crisscros$-pfltxem slits with a razor-sharp cutter to form 100 squares of a lxl mrn,sizb for a,single coated
specimerr ar a}n? mm size for a double coated specimen on the substrate of the painted specimen. Then carry out
thc adhcsion tcst in accordance with Section 2.1, HTSH 1503G by using an attach adhesive tape to pull offthe layer
of paint.
(4) [Iumidity re$istance test r
Humidity resistance test shall be required when the molding materials are used for inlerior applications. Expose
the painted specimens to high humidity atmosphere in a chamber of 50*2 "C and 95ce % RH for 240 h. A{ier the
expo$urc! wipe off moisturc *'ith a clry cloth, make crisscross-pattern slits rvith a razor-sharp cuttcr to form
I00 squares of a I x I mm size fbr a single coated specimen or a2*2 mm si:re for a double coaled specirnen on the
substrale of rhe painted specinren. Then carry out the adhesion test in accorclarrcc rvitlt Section'2.1 , HTSH 1503G
by usrng an atlach adhesive tepe to plll offthe layer ofpaini.

4.3.3 Light Transmitiance and Haze Measuremenl Tes-t
By means of an integrated sphere light transmitiance meter.
(l) The sperime.n is a 50x50*3 rnm or plaque prepared by mear:s of molding or maehining. After conditioning the
speeimens in accordance with Section 4.1.1 {l) cx 4.2.I (1}, atl preserice of; dust and/ar grease contaminanJr sh*ll
be removed from the surfaces of the specimen. Measufe tle thickness of lhe *pecimen precisely hy enrploying a
micrometer.
(2) An integraied sphere light transmitlance meter (see Fig. tr ) shall be used for this tesl
r'(3) Operate the rneler by tracing steps instructed in Table 5 and read a geuge of Galvanometer.

Reflective surface:.
'The white standard plate shall have a coatcd surlace which has s unifom high reflectivity to all the

as the white standard plate does.
Condenser lens:

4.3.4 Weathering Tcst

( I ) Use a Xenon wearhcring tesrcr specified in Section 9.20 of HTSM050lS.

(2) Perfbrm the tr:st for the durations showu in Table 6. However, in the case where dye is used for coloring, conduct
