CHRISTMAS LANTERN (PAROL) MAKING CONTEST

GUIDELINES AND MECHANICS
THEME: “PaskORGANIC: Parol sa Paglaum sa Maayong Kaugmaon”

1. PARTICIPANTS
• This contest is open to all bona fide residents of Barangay Poblacion District III,
Dauin, Negros Oriental.
• In every purok, there must be only one (1) entry.

2. GUIDELINES AND MECHANICS OF THE CONTEST

• The Parol can be of any shape, design and color.
• It must be at most four (4) feet in height.
• The Parol must be made of INDIGENOUS MATERIALS ONLY. (In compliance
with PPA MC 11-2021 and PMO MO 001-19 on “Ban on the Use of Unnecessary
Single-Use Plastic Products” the following plastics are NOT ALLOWED to be used:
▪ Plastic bottles, plastic cups, plastic spoons/forks/ knives/stirrers and
polystyrene containers
• It must be hand-made. No commercially made Parol shall be entered in the contest.
(Documentation is NEEDED as proof that the designer/s personally made the parol)
• Use of lighting (Christmas lights, light bulbs) is allowed to enhance the visual effect of
the Parol. However, candles and live fire are NOT PERMISSIBLE.
• The participants should follow guidelines or else will lead to disqualification.
• The Sangguniang Barangay encourages participation of the
whole community in making the Parol to foster barangay solidarity.
3. TIMEFRAME OF THE CONTEST
December 5 – December 26 Making of the Christmas Lantern
Final Judging, Presentation of Entries, Proclamation and
December 27, 2023
