fertilization?
Abstraction
Fertilization is the natural life process, which is carried
out by the fusion of both male and female gametes,
which results in the formation of a zygote. In humans,
the process of fertilization takes place in the fallopian
tube. During this process, semen comprising thousands
of sperms are inseminated into the female vagina during
coitus. Human fertilization is the union of a human egg
and sperm, occurring in the ampulla of the fallopian
tube. The result of this union, leads to the production of
a zygote cell, or fertilization.

In the process of fertilization, sperm come in the contact

with an ova (egg). One of the sperm may fuse with egg.
The nuclei of the sperm and the egg fuse to form single
nucleus resulting in the formation of a fertilized egg
called zygote. In human being, the fertilization takes
place inside the female body, called internal fertilization.

Example of human fertilization:

Mitosis – the function of mitosis is to replicate a cell

creating two genetically identical diploid cells. This is
useful in growth and repair, and asexual reproduction.
For Plant Fertilization: Plant fertilization is the
joining of male and female gametes, resulting in a
zygote. After fertilization, the zygote divides to
form an embryo. Plant fertilization is the union of
male and female gametes (reproductive cells) to
produce a zygote (fertilized egg). It's a pretty
straight-forward process that's similar for both
flowering plants (angiosperms) and seed-bearing
plants (gymnosperms). The most generalized
form of this process requires four steps:
pollination, germination, penetration of the
ovule, and fertilization.

Step 1: Pollination The pollen is deposited on a

plant's stigma which is part of the pistil (the
elongated part of a flower extending from the
ovary). This process is called pollination. It is the
transfer of the pollen grains from the anther to
the stigma.

Step 2: Germination Within a few minutes,

pollen tubes begin growing, or germinating,
toward the egg cell. These tubes will provide a
path for the sperm carried in the pollen to reach
the egg. It is the process by which an organism
grows from a seed or spore.

Step 3: Penetration of the Ovule The pollen tubes

penetrate the ovule, which contains the female
gametes

Step 4: Fertilization Sperm travel down the pollen

tubes and fertilize an egg. Most angiosperms
undergo double fertilization, where both an egg
and the polar nuclei in the embryonic sac are
fertilized.

The stigma (plural: stigmas or stigmata) is the

receptive tip of a Carpel, or of several fused
carpels, in the gynoecium of a flower. In a flower
the part of a pistil receives the pollen during
pollination. It is where the part of the pistil where
pollen germinates. It is the female part of the
flower (Ovary): The Basal portion of the pistil
where ovules are produced.
