Demonstration Lesson Plan in Teaching Beginning Reading using Fuller


Approach Week 4

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson the pupils should be able to:

1. Produce the sounds of English letters using the letter sounds


of Mother Tongue as reference
2. Note important details
3. Recognize more common sight words in order to read simple
phrases
4. Activate prior knowledge based on the stories to be read
5. Match words, phrases and sentences containing these words
with pictures
6. Ask and answer simple questions (who, what, where, when, why
and how) about the text listened to
7. Read words with short e sound in CVC pattern
8. Answer questions to clarify understanding before, during, and
after reading
9. Read aloud phrases, sentences, and stories consisting of
short e words with appropriate speed, accuracy, and proper
expression
10. Spell words with short e sound in CVC pattern
11. Give the meaning of short e words

I. Procedure
A. Preliminary Activity
1. Review
Game: Magic Box
Teacher prepares a “magic box”. Pupils make a phrase using the
following words and sight words.
2. Motivation
The teacher introduces the rhymes. This rhyme will be read in
the tune of Row, Row, Row Your Boat. Then, call learners to perform
it as a group, triad, pair, and volunteer to read the word with
teacher’s support.

Meg, Meg, Meg


Meg has an egg.
Jeg, Jeg, Jeg
Jeg has an egg, too.
Keg, keg, keg
The egg is in the keg.(2x)

Comprehensions Questions:

B. Lesson Proper
1. Presentation
From the rhyme, Meg has an egg in the keg. The teacher will
write the sentence on the board.
2. Accuracy Track (Lesson Focus)
The teacher posts sentences and pictures on the board.

The teacher recalls the Wh and H – Questions to learners. Then,


the teacher with learners read together. Teacher asks volunteer, then
in group, triads, by pairs then individual.
