When we say fact, it is an idea that can be verified with
evidence. It is something that is true and tells what
actually happened. A statement of fact can be proven.

When we say opinion, it is a statement that expresses


one’s ideas, feelings, beliefs, likes or dislikes. When you
express your opinion, you state how you feel and think
about something.

I have here sentences class.


Sentence # 1. Dr. Jose Rizal is our National Hero.
Sentence # 2. I believe that Dr. Jose Rizal is very
intelligent.

Which of the two sentences is a statement of fact?

I Have here some examples class. Identify whether it is a


fact or an opinion.
1. The sun is the center of the solar system.
Fact: It can be proven through scientific data.
2. Dogs are the best pet among animals. Opinion: Not all
people like dogs. Some others like cats, birds, etc.
3. Australia is the smallest continent in the world.
Fact: It can be proven by looking at the World Atlas.
Therefore, World Atlas is our evidence.
4. I believe that this pandemic will end soon.
Opinion: We can’t predict the future. It is just based on
one’s belief.
5. Bats are the only true flying mammals.
Fact: We can read it in Science Book. Therefore, Science
Book is our evidence.

9. I think it is better to have a big family rather than small
one.
