1. Illustrate supplementary and complementary angles;
2. Find the complement and supplement measure of an angle;
3. Value accumulated knowledge as means of new understanding.

II. Subject Matter:

Topic: Relationships of Geometric Figures
Sub-topic: Supplementary and Complementary Angles

Materials: Laptop, Television, slide deck, chalk and chalkboard

III. Procedure

Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity

A. Preliminary Activities
1. Prayer
Everybody, please stand let us pray.

(The teacher will call one student to lead (Students bow their head and pray)
the prayer)

...Amen. ...Amen.

2. Greetings

Good morning class! Good morning Sir!

Okay, good morning. Before you take your (Students picking up the trashes and
seats, I want you to pick up the pieces of arrange the chairs properly)
paper under your chairs. Make sure that
your rows are straight and your chairs are
properly aligned.

Alright! You may now take your seats.

3. Checking of Attendance There is no absent Sir.

Who is absent today?
None?
Very good!

Pre-Assessment

1. 90 - ___ = 45 1. 45
2 ___ + 35 = 180 2. 145
3. 180 - 65 = ___ 3. 115
4. ___ - 30 = 60 4. 90
5. ___ - 108 = 72 5. 180

Motivation

Okay, once again good morning.

Let's try this!
Direction: Consider the figure

1. Does D lie in the interior of ∠ABC?

2. Using the protractor, fine the measures of 1. Yes
∠ABC, ∠ABD, ∠DBC. 2. m∠ABC =80°
m∠ABC = ___ m∠ABD = ___ m∠DBC = 40°
m∠DBC = ___ m∠ABD = 40°
3. Compare the m∠ABC to the sum of the 3. Equal
measures of m∠ABD and m∠DBC. 4. m∠FEH =100°
m∠FEG = 50°
m∠GEH = 50°

4. Using the protractor, find:

m∠FEH = ___
m∠FEG = ___
m∠GEH = ___
5. Compare the m∠FEH to m∠FEG +
m∠GEH.
6. What relationship do you observe?

Nice observation.

B. Lesson Proper

Based from the activity that we have done,

what do you think is our lesson for today?
Anyone?

Yes, Saturov?
I think it's adding two angles Sir.
Okay, you have a point for your idea.

This morning our lesson is all about

Supplementary and Complementary Angles
, and at the end of the lesson, you are
expected to: (students will read the Objectives:
objectives)
At the end of the lesson students
should be able to:
1. Illustrate supplementary and
complementary angles;
2. Find the complement and supplement
measure of an angle;
3. Value accumulated knowledge as
means of new understanding
Can I assure you that we will be able to
achieve it? Yes, Sir!

That sounds good! Alright let's begin!

1. ACTIVITY
Study the illustration below and answer the
follow up questions.
Gojo Satoru bought Buko Pie and asked
Nobarra to slice it for the sorcerers.
a. Suppose half of the pie was consumed by
Mahoraga and Megumi, what possible pair
of slices was eaten? What can you say
about the sum of their angles?
b. Aside from your answer on the first
question, what two slices can we pair to
form a semi-circle?
c. Take a look again at the figure. What two
slices can we pair to form half of a semi-
circle?
d. What can you say about the sum of their
angles?

C. Analysis

Q.1 When do we say that two angles 90°

are supplementary?
Q.2 When do we say that two angles
180°
are complementary?
Q.3 How to find the
Sum of pair of angles
complement/supplement measure of an
angle?

3. Abstraction

So, let's define first what is complementary

angles and supplementary angles.

while
Is it clear?

For example:
Name different pairs of complementary and
supplementary angles from the buko pie Yes Sir!
below and explain why you choose those
angles as complementary or
supplementary.

Here, if you're looking for complementary,

you're just going to find the pair of angles
that will give you 90° while in supplementary
180°. Make sure that the pairs are
positioned side by side.

Another example if you have 35° and

looking for complementary, just subtract
35° to 90° then is it's equal to 55° . In
supplementary, just subtract 35° to 180°
then it is 145°.

Let's try this on the board.

Directions: The measure of an angle is given

below. Give the measure of it's complement
and supplement.

C S
1. 60°
2. 30°
3. 85°
4. 75°
5. 21° 30, 120
60, 150
5, 95
15, 105
69, 159
Is everything clear?

Very good!

Yes Sir!

E. Application

1. x=50° Complementary
2. x=30° Supplementary
3. x=35° Complementary
4. x=90° Supplementary
5. x=45° Supplementary

F. Generalization

What's the importance of understanding

this topic?
Answers may vary

IV. Evaluation
Choose the letter of the correct answer.
1. What do you call pair of angles in which the sum of their measures is 90°?
a. Supplementary c. Vertical
b. Complementary d. Linear Pair
2. It is the sum of the measures of supplementary angles.
a. 90°. b. 180° c. 360° d. 45°
3. The following are examples of complementary angles EXCEPT:

4. How do you find the complement of an angle?

a. 180-n b. 90-n c. n-180 d. n-90
5. How do you find the supplement of an angle?
a. 180-n b. 90-n c. n-180 d. n-90
