School Term Assessment
2- Assessment

SECOND
SUMMATIVE
ASSESSMENT
- SA2

March 18th - April 02nd, 2024

GRADE 4

Good luck for your assessment!

While we are all set to begin with the Term-End-Assessments

(1st Summative Assessment or SA1), we would like to reiterate

  expected
that students are not
to rote learn (memorize or
reproduce answers from the workbook). The question paper

will haveskill-based

questions, therefore reading the content

will help students apply their understanding. The outcome of
the SA1 will help us to plan remedial and enrichment

activities for the children and offer deeper insights
into the
academic practices and learning outcomes.

Must Read

We would also like parents to be serious about the assessments and ensure that,
even if you are traveling or occupied, students should attempt the assessment.
Our facilitators have put a lot of effort into training and designing skill-based
question papers for the students.
The purpose of the assessment is to gauge our teaching practices along with the
evidence of skill development in children. Therefore, dear parents, it is
imperative that children be given the freedom to attempt tasks independently.
Support can and should be given at the instructional level only.

We want to know how well the student has understood the concepts taught in
class and can apply that knowledge in different contexts. Our aim is NOT to
assess how well students remember or how well they can reproduce
information from memory, but rather to evaluate their understanding.

Given below are a few points that you should observe:

1. Kindly avoid providing prompts to the child.

2. Given that the questions are designed to assess skills, it is strongly discouraged
to simply copy and paste answers from the internet. No marks will be given if a
case of plagiarism is identified.

3. The emphasis should be on motivating students to tackle and respond to

questions to the best of their ability, prioritizing effort over marks.

4. Emphasize understanding the content rather than rote memorization.

5. The school will not be showcasing class toppers or publishing class-level

performances. Every child is unique, and our celebration will revolve around
acknowledging the individual learning journey and progress of each student.

We sincerely seek parents' patience as the dynamics of education undergo positive

changes for the betterment of our students' learning experiences. It may be a slow
progress in some children but the change is inevitable where we will soon see our
children move from a traditional rote learning system to a skill-based approach of
teaching and learning.
