Session Title: BLEND ME IN…
Session Objectives 1. Identify consonants and consonant blends.
2. Add initial and final consonants blend to form a word.
3. Classify initial and final consonant blend.
Key Concepts:  Words with initial and final consonant blends.
 Blends are two or three individual consonants (graphemes) that are next
to one another, and EACH separate sound (phoneme) can be heard.
Some examples include cr, fl, st, sp, tw, str, -lt, and -ft.
 Blends are sometimes called consonant clusters because the consonants
are clustered together with no vowels between.

MECHANICS:

 Divide the class into 5 groups.


 Form as many words as you can base on the letters
below.
 You will be given only 5 minutes.
 The group with the highest number of word wins.

GROUP ACTIVITY # 2

 The teacher will:

1. Divide the class into five groups.


2. Show pictures and students will name each picture.
3. Ask students to underline consonants from their
listed words.
4. Identify a group with the highest number of listed
words which are correctly spelled and has identified
consonants wins the game.
