Quarter 4 Lesson 1

I. Intended Learning Outcomes


At the end of the lesson, the learners should be able to:
1. identify the basic movements of cheerdance through a video clip;
2. appreciate the value of cheerdancing in the improvement and maintenance of
their health and fitness by making an advertisement; and
3. create a 64 – counts cheerdance routine using the different basic movements in
cheerdance.

shout out words or
phrases that may
help motivate and
boost the morale of
a playing team and
perform better during
the game. On the

cheerleading.
Cheerleading is a
performance of a
routine, usually
dominated by
gymnastic skills.

- What do you think are the gymnastic skills that you can
notice in cheer dancing?

tumbling skills, lifts
and tosses, ma’am.

- Correct! These gymnastic skills are combined with


shouting of cheers and yells to lead the crowd to cheer
for a certain team during a game or sport. It originated in
the United States.

- Okay, moving on to the history of it, it originated in the

USA. In the 1980s at Princeton University, Thomas
Peebles together with other students supported a local
American football team with cheers. In 1884, he moved
to the University of Minnesota, where he quickly
popularized the idea of cheering on football players.

Peebles’ team just
did cheering,
