Barros S.Urinary tract infection during gestation and its correlation with low back pain versus
nursing intervention North parana, Buique, PE Brazil.Rev Dor.Sao Paulo, (May-06-2013);
14;2:88-93. BarrosS. (2010). Conducted a study to evaluating the prevalence of urinary tract
infection during pregnancy and its correlation with low back pain, as well as at analyzing
prenatal assistance and orientations provided by two nurses during pregnant women
assistance. Methodology-Research approach this was a transversal, exploratory and
descriptive study, study population- pregnant women, sample size- 124 pregnant women
divided in 2 comparative groups (GI and GII), sampling technique- purposive sampling
technique. Data were collected through perinatal records and semi-structured questionnaire.
The result of the study shown that most pregnant women were aged between 20 and 29 years
(67%). Gl had 42% prevalence of UTI and Gll 33%. As to genital hygiene habits,17% of Gl
patients would not carry out during pregnancy. In GII, 66% would carry out genital hygiene.
100% of GI patients have reported not having attended orientation groups during prenatal
assistance versus 100% attendance of GII. As to low back pain, 85% of Gl women and 84%
of Gll women with UTI have referred low back pain, being this association statistically
significant. The study concluded that prevalence of UTI during gestation was 42% for Gl and
33% for GII. Low back pain was the primary symptom reported by patients with confirmed
UTI. There has been progressive spread of health and education knowledge during prenatal
assistance provided by the Gll professional with possible association with decreased
incidence of UTI.

regarding prevention of UTI among primigravida mothers, find out the difference between
the pre-test & post-test knowledge, attitude and practice among primigravida mothers, find
out the association between the knowledge, attitude and practice score with selected
demographic variables. Methodology- Research design-one group pre-test post-test quasi
experimental design, settings- OBG OPD at KMCH, Tamilnadu,sampling technique- non
probability purposive sampling technique, method of data collection- structured questionnaire
for knowledge, rating scale for attitude & checklist for practice. The result mean pre-test, past
test knowledge score was increased from 10.4 to 11.14. The mean pre-test, post test Attitude
score was increased from 28.65 to 30.10. The mean pre-test post test practice was increased
from 7.93 to 9.84 respectively after self instructional module administration. The study
concluded that a positive correlation between pre-test post test knowledge, attitude and
practice regarding prevention of UTI sample.
