Very Good! That are the examples of Speed, Distance and Time.
Before we start with our discussion, “What subject you can use in
finding the distance, time, and speed of a location?” Math Teacher!
Very Good! I think you are all ready to our new lesson! Are you
ready to start our discussion? Yes, Teacher;

D. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills #1 Let’s now try to understand a level-up analyzation of finding the
distance, speed, and time usung word problem and formulas.

1. What is Distance?
Distance is the total length between two points or
position
Find the Distance using the Formula D = S×T
You are on a road trip, and you drive at a constant speed of 65 miles
per hour (mph) for 3 hours. How far have you traveled during this
time?
D = S×T
D = 65mph × 3hrs
D = 195 miles

What mathematical operation we use to find the Distance? Multiplication, Teacher.

Very Good! Now do you understand how to find the Distance? Yes, Teacher.

2. What is Speed?
Speed is a scalar quantity that refers to how fast or
slow an object is moving.

Average speed is a measure of the distance traveled in

a given period of time; it is sometimes referred to as
the ratio of distance and time
Find the Speed using the Formula S = D/T
A train travels 400 kilometers in 5 hours. Calculate its speed.
S = D/T
S = 400 km/5 hrs
S = 80 km/hrs

What mathematical operation we use to find the Speed? Division, Teacher.

Very Good! Now do you understand how to find the Speed? Yes, Teacher.

3. What is a Time?
Time is the quantity measured or measurable period
during which an action, process or condition exist or
continues.
Find the Time using the Formula T = D/S
A car drives at a constant speed of 100 km/h. How long will it take
?to travel 300 kilometers
T = D/S
T = 300 km/100km/h
T = 3 hours
Division, Teacher.
What mathematical operation we use to find the Time? Yes, Teacher.
Very Good! Now do you understand how to find the Time?

E. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills #2 Here’s another example for you to understand how to find speed,
distance, and time.

Who wants to try to calculate speed? Yes, Charelle.

1. A plane flies 800 miles in 2 hours. Calculate its speed.

Speed = Distance / Time Speed = Distance / Time
Speed = 800 miles / 2 hours Speed = 800 miles / 2 hours
Speed = 400 mph Speed = 400 mph

Very good! Now who wants to find the time? Yes, Raymond.

2. A car travels at a speed of 70 miles per hour. How long

will it take to cover a distance of 210 miles?
Time = Distance / Speed Time = Distance / Speed
Time = 210 miles / 70 mph Time = 210 miles / 70 mph
Time = 3 hours Time = 3 hours

Good job! Lastly who wants to find the distance? Yes, JohnEd.

3. You are on a road trip and drive at a speed of 60

kilometers per hour for 4 hours. How far have you
traveled?
Distance = Speed x Time Distance = Speed x Time
Distance = 60 km/h x 4 hours Distance = 60 km/h x 4 hours
Distance = 240 kilometers Distance = 240 kilometers

Good Job class! Give yourself an Ang Galing mo Clap!

1, 2, 3 (clap)
1, 2, 3 (stomp your feet)
Ang Galing Galing Mo!

F. Developing mastery Now that you already know how to find speed, distance, and time,
(Leads to Formative Assessment) we will be having an activity. Are you ready for the activity class?
I will give you three problems, and you need to calculate the speed, Yes, Teacher.
distance, and time. This is to test your understanding of our lesson.

Direction: Find the area of the following composite figures.

1. Calculate the Distance. Use the Formula (D = S×T) D= 40 km/h × 3hrs
•3 hours at 40 km/h D= 120 km

2. Calculate the Time. Use the Formula (T = D/S) T= 200 km/20 km/h
• 200 kilometers at 20km/h T= 10 hours

3. Calculate the Speed. Use the Formula (S = D/T) S= 10 meters/30 seconds

• 10 meters in 30 seconds S= 0.33 m/secs.

Very good! It looks like you already understand today’s lesson.

G. Finding Practical applications of concepts and skills Answer the following questions.

1. How do speed, distance, and time influence travel

decisions and planning?

2. Plan your dream travel and explain your choices and

calculations regarding how speed, distance, and time
influence your decisions.

H. Making generalizations and abstractions about the lesson Again, what is the topic that we’ve discussed today class? Yes
Marvic? Introduction of Speed, Distance and Time, Teacher.

Very good! What else? Yes April? Calculate speed, distance, and time, Teacher.

Very good! What subject you can use in finding the distance, time,
and speed of a location? Mathematics, Teacher.

Very good! Another? Yes Jolina? Mathematical concepts to solve problems involving speed,
distance, and time.

Absolutely Right! Who can give those mathematical operation we
