I. OBJECTIVES
 The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts of
A. Content Standard
measures of position.
B. Performance  The learner is able to conduct systematically a mini research
Standard applying the different statistical method.
 The learner calculates a specified measure of position (e.g. 90th
percentile) of a set of data. (M10SP-IVb-1)
 Learning Objectives:
C. Learning At the end of the session, the students should be able to:
Competencies  illustrate quartiles of grouped data;

IV. PROCEDURES
Construct a frequency distribution table.
The following table shows the daily wages of 50 workers in a private company.

A. Reviewing previous
lesson (ELICIT)

B. Establishing a Group Activity : WORDSCAPES

Purpose of the Instructions:
Lesson (ENGAGE) 1. Form four groups.
2. Each group will be given 5 minutes to find the hidden words.
3. The first group to finish will present their answer.
Group Activity on Frequency Distribution Table
Instructions:
1. Form four groups.
2. Each group will be given 10 minutes to answer the activity.
3. The first group to finish will present their answer.
4. Rubric of Group Activity
Situation:
Due to the frequent power interruptions, a survey was made on the
average monthly Kilowatt-hours consumption of households. These are the
average monthly Kilowatt-hours of 32 households in Barangay Butansapa.
Complete the Frequency Distribution Table by solving for the lower
boundaries and less than cumulative frequency.

D. Discussing new After solving for the lower boundaries and less than cumulative
concepts and frequency, for groups 1 and 2 calculate for Q1 and for groups 3 and 4
practicing new skills calculate for Q3.
#1 (EXPLAIN)
The teacher will first demonstrate how to solve for Q2.
Steps in Finding the Percentile for Grouped Data
1. Complete the table by computing the total frequency and adding a
column for lower boundaries (LB) and less than cumulative frequency(<cf).
2. Compute for the Position to determine class.
3. Set the given facts for the identified Quartiles Class.
4. Set the formula for Qk, substitute and evaluate.
5. Write the final answer

SOLUTION for Q2.

Step 1. Complete the table by computing the total frequency and adding a
column for lower boundaries (LB) and less than cumulative frequency(<cf).
Step 2: Compute for the Position to determine class.
2 N 2(32) 64
Q2 class: = = =16
4 4 4
This means we need to find the class interval where the 16th score weigh is
contained.
Step 3: Set the given facts for the identified Quartiles Class.
LB=63.5
N=32
Cfb=15
fQ2=7
k N 2N
= =16
4 4

i= 22
Step 4: Set the formula for Qk, substitute and evaluate.

( )
kN
−c f b
Qk = LB + 4 i
fQk

Q2 = 63.5+( 16−15
7 )
22

Q = 63.5+ ( ) 22
1
2
7
Q2 = 63.5+ ( 0.14 3 ) 22
Q2 = 63.5+ 3.146
Q2 = 66.645 or 66.65
Therefore: The Q2 class is class interval 64-85..
Therefore, 50% of the households have an average Kilowatt-hours less
than or equal 66.64.

(Presentation of groups 1 and 2 calculate for Q1 and for groups 3 and 4

calculate for Q3.)
The Quartile for Grouped Data
The steps in computing the median are similar to that Q1 and
Q3. In finding the median, we first need to determine the
median class. In the same manner, the Q1 and the Q3 class
must be determined first before computing for the value of Q1
N
and Q3. The Q1 class is the class interval where the ( )ℎ score
4
3N
is contained, while the class interval that contains the ( )𝑡ℎ
4
score is the Q3 class.
In computing the quartiles of grouped data, the following
