II. RATIONALE
The League of Political Erudite Students (LPES) is an organization of political
science students of North Eastern Mindanao State University – Main Campus that aims to
promote empowerment, competency, and political awareness through engaging various
activities and any forms of social activities that harnessed their credibility which are highly
needed as a political science student. One of the functions of the organization is to create
series of activities that give opportunities to the students in shaping their skills and
knowledge which are relevant in developing one’s personal character in preparation in their
future career path. Thus, in pursuant to the constitution and by-laws of LPES Organization,
stated that the organization shall be an active catalyst in the reformation of the students’
betterment (Section IV, Article 1), thus it shall promote intellectual innovation, moral, social,
physical, and spiritual formation of the students (Section VI, Article 1). It is stated that the
organization shall promote closer relationship between the students, school administration, its
employees, and the community (Section V, Article 1) may it be in the form of an activity.
Lastly, stated in the constitution and by-laws, that the organization will undertake profits and
activities that will improve the students and the organization as a whole.

In connection to this, the LPES officers would like to propose a “Political Science
Day” where all the aspiring political scientist together with the supervision of the program
instructors will display their wits and talents. The event is scheduled every April. This is also
one way of searching possible participants in the next CAS Day.

III. DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITY


The League of Political Erudite Students (LPES) Organization take initiative in
bringing back the annual celebration of Political Science Day consist of activities which aims
to develop awareness, competence and critical thinking which are relevant skills of being a
political science student. We aim to achieve these through academic activities and healthy
competitions.

The Political Science Day is a one-day activity composed of different academic,


sports, and talent competitions which aims to promote not only to camaraderie of the students
but also to assess the learning that they acquire in the university.

IV. OBJECTIVES
This activity aims to emphasize the following objectives;
1. To showcase the talents and wits of the students, and to assess the learnings they
acquire in the university as a political science student.
2. To strengthen and empower the political science students through different
academic and talent events.
3. To promote closer relationship with the students and instructors.
4. To promote the art of critical thinking skills and highly develop social
awareness through healthy competitions.
5. To look for potential participants in the next CAS Days

V. PARTICIPANTS
Participants of the said event will be composed of all Political Science students from
1 year to 4th year, divided into four in order to come up with four different houses namely;

House of Democrats, House of Liberals, House of Socialists, and House of Autocrats. Each
team has allocated one political science instructor who will serve as an adviser of the team.

VIII. EXPECTED OUTCOMES


At the end of the said activity, the students shall have:
1. Successfully showcased the competency of students in different fields (i.e.
academic, sport, talent)
2. Strengthened and empowered political science students.
3. Closer relationship between students and instructors.
4. Empowered and highly developed students because of healthy competitions that
promote critical thinking and social awareness.
5. Political Science are ready for the next CAS Days
