Statistical Treatment of Data
The data that will be gathered from the respondents will be
carefully analyzed and appropriate descriptive statistical tools will be
utilized in order to achieve answers to each specific question stated in
Chapter 1.
To answer question number 1, the students’ profile will be described
by the researcher using the percentage and frequency distribution.
The formula for percentage is as follows:
P = fx 100
n
Where :
P = Percentage
f = frequency of respondents
n = number of cases
To answer question number 2, the researcher will utilize the percentage and frequency
distribution.
To determine the oral reading level, the scales below will be used:
Level Word Recognition (WR) Comprehension(C)
Independent 97-100 % 80-100%
Instructional 90-96% 59-79%
Frustration 89 below 58% - below

To answer question number 3 on the relationship

between the profile and the level of reading performance,

the researcher will use Spearman-rho correlation.

A Woman of Wealth
In the nineteenth century, there lived in Manila a very wealthy woman
named Doἡa Margarita Roxas de Ayala. With her wealth, she could have lived
a peaceful life at home where everything she wished was obeyed by her family.
But she felt sorry for the low position of womanhood in her country. Women
lacked education, so she urged the authorities to establish a school for girls.
She would donate the land, the school building and help maintain the school
financially.
Finally, sisters of a religious order arrived in Manila and accepted Doἡa
Margarita’s offer. The Colegio dela Concordia was thus established in 1868.
Since then, women have taken up teaching and other courses.
