5.3 - Feedback to improve
learning

Annotation:
Extending help with my colleagues is a great pleasure. As a LAC leader, I need
to guide and assist my co-teachers about the different guidelines usually do in the
form of coaching and mentoring. The MOVs presented shows how a LAC leader
coached and mentored the teachers in different strategies in giving feedback to
learner’s performance. Most of the problems they raised is that there are some
unanswered part of modules. Basically, students just answered the part which has
multiple choices. I recommend them to go over the modules and analyze those parts
which were left unanswered. Then, I gave some suggestions in different aspects such
as, the objective should be attainable, assessment could be localized and should be
SMART. It needs to focus on the quality of learners’ products and performances. The
teacher should motivate and challenge their students to develop their skills and
knowledge. I recommend them to acknowledge students good performances and
identifies those are misunderstood.

REFLECTIVE SUMMARY
Professional Standards/Strand:
(7.4) Professional reflection and learning to improve
practice
Education is the key to success. It is an overused
statement-but for some good reason; it is true in its very
sense. For most families and parents, it links them to the
belief that education is the only legacy that cannot be
taken away from their children. Furthermore, it serves as
their weapon against the unscrupulous men who would
intend to take advantage of their weaknesses because of
lack of education. Thus making them assertive and it’s a
good thing being aware of annoying what you really
deserve.
However, every time there are situations beyond our
control hampering the continuity of carrying out those
beliefs because, we are given no choice but to follow
new rules and regulations. Otherwise the situation will
become chaotic. Apparently, when the world was hit by
this plague called COVID-19 pandemic, everything
changed so abruptly and part of our adaptation and
adjustment. In our case being part of the educational
system for example, came up with the new learning
modalities that would ensure the continuity of delivering
education to our clients within the community. And yes,
I would say that the past one year was a tough
experience for everyone of us simply because it was not
just our scheme nor our prior mindset. Thus, making it a
bit hard for us to adjust. But again, everything boils
down to our being a teacher who are said to be
resourceful, resilient and compassionate. With all of
those qualities, we have victoriously survived the very
first ever year of non-face- to-face classes.
On the other hand, though the past year of the new
Learning Delivery Modalities has been successful and
we practiced camaraderie’s. obedience, and team
work still, it is evident that we were not able to have
a hundred percent satisfaction in the outcomes.
Admit it or not, we were even having doubts as to
the reliability and authenticity of the children’s
outputs. And again, we are given no choice but to
accept whatever they give us. Otherwise,
deprivation comes in.
