• Associated with basic mathematical
operations involving numbers
• Seen as an aspect of human rights closely
linked to right education.

importance of Literacy in the modern world:
• Fundamental human right and the foundation
for lifelong learning.
• Essential to social and human development in
its ability transform lives.
• An instrument of empowerment to improve
one’s health, income and relationship for the
individuals, families and societies.

MEDIA LITERACY
- A set of skills that anyone can learn
- Refers to ability to access, analyze, evaluate and
create media messages of all kinds.
- Youth and adults are better able to decipher the
complex messages receive from T.V., radio,
newspapers, magazines, books, billboards,
signs, packaging, marketing materials, video
games, recorded music, internet and other forms
of media.
