Types of Police Organization
1. Line Organization – authority and responsibility
extend in a direct line from top to bottom.

2. Functional Organization – functional responsibility

is limited to particular activity .

3. Line and Staff organization – a combination of line

and functional types. Channels of responsibility is
to “think and provide expertise” for the line units.
