between Mobile Legends participation and
academic performance among grade 11 STEM
students, highlighting on both positive and
negative correlation.
BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
• Mobile legends: Bang Bang, a popular
multiplayer online battle arena game, is widely
played among Filipino students.

• The flow in mobile gaming popularity cause

interest in its impact on academic performance.
BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
• Studies conveys a significant correlation between
two variables.

• Research proposes that excessive gaming,

particularly Mobile Legends, may lead to
decreased academic performance due to time and
cognitive resources devoted to gaming.

Pearson’s r Correlational Analysis
and the academic performance of grade 11 STEM students in first
semester?
SUMMARY OF FINDINGS
1. Students Demographic Profile -
The analysis of the demographic profile of
students, with a total of 27 respondents, revealed
that approximately 33% or 9 respondents had
been playing mobile games for 1-2 years, while
around 70% or 19 students has a gaming
experience of Mobile Legends for over 2 years.
SUMMARY OF FINDINGS
2. Level of mobile legends participation of the
students in their academic performance.
-The gathered data revealed that 46% of
respondents, on average, obtained a score of 1,
equating to "sometimes". In contrast, 39% of
respondents scored an average of 0, denoting
"never", and 15% achieved an average score of 2,
which translates to "always".
SUMMARY OF FINDINGS
3. Academic performance of the students.

-Among the 27 students, 7% achieved fairly

satisfactory grades in the 75-79 range, while none
obtained satisfactory grades in the 80-84 range.
Furthermore, 19% of students received very satisfactory
grades in the 85-89 range. The majority, comprising 74%
of the students, excelled with outstanding grades falling
within the 90-100 range during the first semester.
SUMMARY OF FINDINGS
4. Significant relationship between mobile legends participation
and academic performance of the students.

-The Pearson correlation coefficient of -0.201 suggests

a weak negative correlation between mobile game participation
and the academic performance of Grade 11 STEM students.
This suggests that there is a small tendency for academic
performance to fall as mobile gaming participation grows,
meaning that changes in either of the two variables did not
have any effect on the other.
CONCLUSIONS
• In conclusion, the findings of the study highlight
the relationship between gaming behavior and
academic outcomes among Grade 11 STEM
students.

• While a diverse range of gaming experience exists

within the respondents, academic performance
remains consistently strong.
CONCLUSIONS
• Moreover, the moderate level of gaming
participation suggests a balanced approach to
leisure activities among the students.

• Despite indications of a weak negative correlation,

the study lacks conclusive evidence to affirm a
significant relationship between gaming habits and
academic performance.
