December 2012 Newsletter of the Photo Pictorialists of Milwaukee Established 1904 Affiliated with the Photographic Society of America Wisconsin Area Camera Clubs Organization And the Wisconsin Print Circuit Richard Yehl, President; Sandra Weber, Vice President Dixie Lowin, Treasurer; Bert Hartinger, Secretary-Editor Meetings are held the first Thursday of each month from September thru May at 7pm, in the Luther Manor Conference Room, 4545 N. 92nd St., Wauwatosa, Wisconsin Come to the Christmas Party Dec. 6 Our traditional end of year Christmas Party will be held in the LM Conference Room, and we will start at 6pm instead of 7pm. Bring a dish to share and beverages of your choice. Richard Yehl, generous as usual, will bring turkey, ham and rolls. Club members are asked to bring 20 digital photos of vacation, outing, winter, or holiday subjects, on memory sticks or CDs. Report on our November Meeting We expected to be judging Chapter 21 Photos, but they never arrived on time. Despite that, the meeting was a very good one, thanks to Phil Block, who gave a presentation on composition, stressing the rule of thirds and leading lines. Plus Jerry Harders gave a little presentation of how sometimes it is possible to find more than one picture in a picture. Wisconsin Circuit Exhibition of Photography Judging of entries to the Wisconsin Circuit Exhibition of Photography will be Sunday, April 15, and several of our members have volunteered to serve as judges and workers. If you desire to enter this competition go to http://wisconet.com to find out how to enter, and submit your photos before March 10, 2013. Outings Our next club outing will be to Old World Wisconsin to see and photograph how Christmas was celebrated in the old days. Some will go Dec. 1, and others Dec. 8. In either case meet at the south Park and Drive lot off of Watertown Plank Road, for car pooling. Meet there at 10:30am. Also, sometime this winter, Jerry Harders will make arrangements for an outing to the Tripoli Masonic Temple. Ample parking east of the building is available. The interior decorative tile in the temple is extraordinary. Exhibits at Luther Manor The current photo exhibit in the Welcome Center is by Bert Hartinger. In December that area will be devoted to holiday dcor, including a model train exhibit. After that we need either a volunteer or a conscript to put up a new exhibit.

PSA Kathy Braun told us at the last meeting that PSA will increase its annual dues to $60.00 next year. She advised that we pay our dues in advance in 2012 to avoid the increase in dues. WACCO The fall 2012 WACCO competition was Nov. 3. Del Desens won an honorable mention in the mono large print category, for a photo titled Harbor Haze. Richard Yehl won a total of four honorable mentions. Three of them were in the digital nature category. They were titled The Frog, Bugged Hummingbird, and Praying Mantis. The fourth was in Digital color, titled Minneapolis Slim. Bert Hartinger won an honorable mention in the digital nature category for a photo titled Lizard Face. He also won a Gold medal in the Digital Color category for a photo titled Boys Keeping Cool. Dont forget the WACCO sponsored Daniel A. Anderson seminar March 9, 2013, at Midway Hotel in Brookfield, 1005 S. Moorland Road. Cost to attend is $45 for those in a WACCO club if you pay before Feb. 9, 2013, $80 if you pay after Feb. 9. Daniel Anderson is an accomplished nature photographer from Door County. Membership A revised membership list is attached, strictly limited to members who have paid dues, plus the names of recent guests who have indicated an interest in the Pictorialists.

Lynne Riegers Address Lynne Rieger has moved to a retirement community in Oconomowoc. Her new address is 1380 W. Wisconsin Avenue, Apartment 128, Oconomowoc, WI 53066. Her new phone number is 262-2446597. Lynne recently had successful hip surgery and is up on her feet again. She is planning to join a camera club closer to Oconomowoc, and unfortunately for us, she leaves the Pictorialists for that reason.
