CCSS RL1.10 With prompting and support, read prose and poetry of appropriate complexity for grade 1.
First, we will read a fiction story. Next, we will discuss the story elements (Retell Rope). Last, we will answer comprehension questions about the story. This weeks basal story is Animal Park The genre is literary non-fiction.

CCSS 1.OA.1 Use addition and subtraction within 20 (within 10 for now) to solve word problems involving situations of adding to, taking from, putting together, taking apart, and comparing, with unknowns in all positions.
This week we will work with ten frames as a tool to help with addition and subtraction. Students will learn to recognize numbers and to represent equations on ten frames. Proficiency with this tool helps students make the transition to working with larger numbers beginning in January.
