LITERACY focus standards

MATH focus standards

CCSS: RL1.3 Students will describe

setting, characters, and major events in a
story using key details.

We are focusing on counting strategies, the proper

use of Math tools, and sums of 10. (NBT.1/OA.6)

We use a Retell Rope to identify and describe a

storys setting, characters, problem, major events from
the beginning, middle, end, and the solution. Students
should be able to orally tell you about these story
elements.
This weeks basal story is Pig in a Wig
The genre is animal fantasy.

CCSS: RF1.1a Students will recognize the

distinguishing features of a sentence.
(Capital letter, end punctuation, makes sense)

Phonics Focus:
short i sit, fin, nip
final x box, tax, six

Homework This Week:

Remember to send in a signed note

to excuse an absence or tardy.

Yellow folders are Home and Back Folders.

They need to come to school every day.
This is a great way for us to communicate.
Read for 15 minutes each night, and
complete Reading Log in yellow folder.
Spelling Practice Homework is due Friday.
Septembers Family Activity Calendar is
optional, and isnt due until 10/02.

Parent/Teacher Conferences
Conferences are held from this Friday (9/11)
through next Friday (9/18). A sign-up sheet to
schedule your conference went home last week.
Please follow the instructions and return the form
in order to get your preferred time. Remember
there are no classes on 9/17 and 9/18.
