MATH focus standards

CCSS: RL1.3 Students will describe

setting, characters, and major events in a
story using key details.

We are focusing on counting strategies, the proper

use of Math tools, and sums of 10. (NBT.1/OA.6)

We use a Retell Rope to identify and describe a

storys setting, characters, problem, major events from
the beginning, middle, end, and the solution. Students
should be able to orally tell you about these story
elements.
This weeks basal story is Sam, Come Back!
The genre is realistic fiction.

We build concepts using the C-R-A model. We begin

with concrete models, then use pictures, and finally
numbers, symbols, and equations.

CCSS: RF1.1a Students will recognize the

distinguishing features of a sentence.
