LITERACY focus standards

CCSS RL1.10 With prompting and support, read prose and poetry of appropriate complexity for grade 1.
First, we will read a fiction story. Next, we will discuss the story elements (Retell Rope). Last, we will answer comprehension questions about the story. This weeks basal story is Get the Egg! The genre is realistic fiction.

CCSS 1.OA.1 Use addition and subtraction within 20 (within 10 for now) to solve word problems involving situations of adding to, taking from, putting together, taking apart, and comparing, with unknowns in all positions.
This week we will work on subtraction stories (take away, compare, and missing parts). We will continue working with Fact Families and fact family triangles. This tool helps teach the relationship between addition and subtraction, and the commutative property of addition.
