MINUTES OF COOLOOLA COASTCARE GENERAL MEETING

SATURDAY December, 1st 2007 AT TIN CAN BAY LIBRARY

Business Arising: Focus group to be linked with strategic plan. Schedule for this to be
actioned by Greg. Mary Boyce thanked Maree and Cooloola Coast Care for
the Les Boyce Memorial sign.
Moved: Fiona That a photo be taken and posted on the website and to be
put in the Gympie Times. Discussion on nomination of Les for environmental
award at the Council’s Australia Day Awards. To be actioned by Greg.

General Business: Maree Prior – There are 11 programs at the moment in strategic
planning. Some programs are sponsored by CCC. Needs review and new
plan. Suggest sub-committee to be actioned by Maree. Scoping meeting
dates, Saturday January 12th 2008 and Thursday January 17th 2008.

Peter Pickin – Asset register complete.


Shirley Wilson – Collecting history of Tin Can Bay. History of CCC to be
included. A dot point history to be sent from Maree.
Peter Todd – Asked if CCC would support car parking on the foreshore. It is
considered a Council issue.

Guest Speaker: Vivien Griffin. Vivien gave an entertaining and concise presentation on her
application for World Heritage listing of The Great Sandy Straits. Another
reminder to us of the very special place we live in.

Wallum Species Research Project: Susie Pickin. Project funded by BMRG. ‘Igloo’
propagation of local flora to be used by Council and local businesses for
landscaping. A report was prepared with regard to 40 species found in the
Cooloola area. Susie has devoted many hours compiling this outstanding
report. She thanked those who have been part of the project for their support.
Discussion followed about making it available on the website for CCC.
