Site Visit
Our site located in front of UiTM Pulau Pinang, Kampus Permatang Pauh. It is a commercial
area with base area of 26727 m2. There are already two commercial building exist on this
land, which located between our proposed area.
This empty area are usually used as a temporary event or market during certain time. For
example, Thai Food Festival that is open annually on this site.

Feasibility Study

Our group members had asked the locals preferences about any new building or facilities that
should exist on that area because existing commercial area might not meet the need of the
public.

Fahzan : Assalamualaikum, we are civil engineering students from UiTM Pulau Pinang
want to do some survey about this area. First, can we get your name?
Sabrina : Waalaikumsalam. My name is Sabrina.
Fahzan : Alright, How long have you stayed on this area?
Sabrina : Almost 3 years.
Fahzan : Based on your opinion, what type of facilities that is still lack on this area?
Sabrina : If we consider the location that is near to a university, I think that we lack of
shopping area. There are huge number of students here in UiTM, so if we have
shopping mall, it will be easier for them to buy their stuff and to hang out. The
locals will have the advantages too. We have shopping mall but it is far from this
place.
Fahzan : I see… Other than shopping mall, what kind of building that you think can be
built here?
Sabrina : Other than shopping mall, I think we should have residential place. This place
have good access to a lot of places, so it will be good to have residential place.
Fahzan : Alright, thank you for your feedback. That’s it for this time. Thank you.

Farhana : Assalamualaikum, We are students from UiTM Pulau Pinang want to ask you a
few question regarding empty area in between this commercial area. Can you
lend your time?
Resident : Waalaikumsalam. Of course.
Farhana : First, how long have you stayed on this area?
Resident : I am a locals and stayed here since I was born.
Najiha : Ouh I see… As you already know, we have empty area besides this building.
Based on your perspective, what kind of facilities that should be added on that
empty area.
Resident : For me, a parking space should be built on that place. The reason is because both
existing commercial area does not have proper parking place yet. The vehicles
that park along the road make the place seems crowded.
Ain : Alright. Other than parking space, what kind of building that you think should be
build there?
Resident : Maybe… building for market.
Ain : Why you think market is suitable?
Resident : Based on what I know, we have market that is far from this location. So, it will
be better to have market. The locals can buy their groceries easier and students
from UiTM can easily go to the market.
Ain : Thank you for your time and feedback.

Site Selection

After we had visited site and interviewed the locals, we decided to build a shopping mall on
the proposed area. It will meet the need of the locals as well as students in UiTM Pulau
Pinang.

Simple Site Investigation

Setting out was done after the site visit. This activity was done in UiTM Pulau Pinang with at
least 4 points. The measurement of the area was done using scale (1:750) m.
