OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to understand independently the main ideas in simple longer texts on
an increased range of familiar topics by matching the pictures to the questions correctly.

Complementary Speaking
By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to keep interaction going in longer exchanges by asking a speaker to
slow down, speak up or to repeat what they have said by giving explanation to their choice.

Total Physical Response (TPR) activity: Pupils listen to a text and give the assigned response given by the
teacher.
II. PRE-LESSON
1. Pupils list the activities their family members do during their free time on the whiteboard.

III. LESSON DEVELOPMENT


Activity 1:
1. Pupils glance at the set of pictures in the given handout and decide which wh- words are suitable with each
set.
2. Pupils share their answer with the whole class.
3. Pupils listen to the audio (Track 1) and match the set of pictures to the questions.
4. Pupils compare and justify their answers with their talk partner.
5. Pupils listen to the audio again and check answers.
6. Six pupils justify their selected answers to the class. (DTL: Low/Mid: Give at least one reason. Hi: Give at
least two reasons for their choice)

IV. POST-LESSON:
1. Pupils write a newspaper headline about today’s learning.
