There are always different types of days everyone plan to have, but
today we are looking at a beautiful day. This day is awesome because of
the weather, the date and time of day. I am a young little girl waiting
for the sun to break through my parents bedroom window so that they
can accommodate that today is the day I can get up and have fun. Today
is the day I get to go outside and ride my bike. It's a warm beautiful
Sunday morning and I've been awake since the sun arisen since 6:30 a.m.
I want to go ride my bike.
I look to the left of my warm baby blue bedroom and look and my
younger sister sound asleep. I throw a pillow towards the headboard of
her bed and she sprang up screaming there is a monster after her!
After I finished my quiet laughter in my favorite pillow, I turn and look
at my younger sister and say, "Jeannie, I threw the pillow at you, are
you awake." Jeannie look at me and frown, "You play too much Diamond,
go back to sleep" I tell Jeannie it's impossible to return to sleep; I am
just too excited about today. Jeannie sits up in her bed and stares at
the window. She says real loud, "Happy Birthday Diamond! Today is your
birthday." Everyone runs into the bedroom and gives me a hug. I cannot
wait to see what will happen next.
My dad comes to the side of my bed while I jump up and down with glee.
He picks me up into his arms and say, "What do my most favorable little
want to do today on this gorgeous day! I scream at the top of my lungs,
let's go get my presents! My mother comes to my dad side and say,
"Diamond first you must take a bath, get dress and eat breakfast first.
After your chorus we can start on your birthday party. But, before all
of your planning for today goes away, why don't we show you one of your
gifts. I jump out of dad's arms and run downstairs. At the front door
of the living room, is a big huge box with my name on it. I scream at my
dad and Jeannie to help me open the box. After a tremendous amount of
time; we finally got the huge box open. I looked at my mother and my
father and there stood in the living room was a big beautiful red bike.
My dad had made sure he got a license plate just for me with my name
written in red "Diamond". I screamed at the top of my lungs, "Dad can I
please take it outside for a test drive. Well, he says; we must eat
breakfast first. After we eat breakfast and get cleaned up, you can go
outside all day long and ride your bike.
I rushed upstairs and started helping Jeannie with the morning chorus.
Jeannie and I got dressed and came downstairs. For breakfast, we had
eggs, bacon, oatmeal, toast, and orange juice. We hurried up quickly to
eat our breakfast. We looked eagerly at my mother and said; "Mom, can
we go please, can we go outside?" Mom smiled out at me and said, "Yes.
Please be careful.”
This Is My Body
This is my body. It has different parts. They all work together. This is
my fur. It keeps me warm, especially in the wintertime. When my fur
gets too long, my mom takes me to the barber for a furcut. If I sit really
still, I get a special treat. These are my eyes. They help me to see. I
use them to see a little green worm… to see a big tree… And to see my
dad when he comes home from work.“Hi, Dad!” Sometimes I have to use
my eyes to watch my little brother. I don’t like to use them that,
though. These are my ears. They help me to hear. I can hear when
my dog barks. That means someone’s here. I can also hear when my
mom asks me to clean my room. Then I wish I didn’t hear so well. This is
my nose. It helps me to smell. I can smell Mom’s perfume. I can
smell my shampoo. I can smell when my dog has been playing with a skunk
Ugh! This is my mouth. I use it to eat and to talk. Dad says I talk all the
time. I guess I just have a lot to say. These are my teeth.
They help me to chew things I like… ...and sometimes things I don’t really
like. I brush my teeth every night to keep them clean. This is my tummy.
This is where the food goes after I eat. ometimes if I eat too much
sweet stuff I get a tummy ache. That’s why Mom won’t let me eat a
whole bag of cookies. These are my arms and hands. I use them all the
time. The help me turn cartwheels…to steer my bike…and to turn pages
of a book. When I lasso a dinosaur, they help me tie him up. They help
me do just about everything… …especially to take my toys back from my
sister. These are my elbows. I use them to prop up my head when I’m
sleepy. These are my legs and feet. I use them to walk…and climb. When
my sister is bothering me. I use my legs and feet to run away from her.
These are my knees. They help my legs bend. When I fall down, my
knees always get banged up. All the parts of my body work together so I
can do anything I want. Everyone’s body looks different, but I think
that’s what makes us all special.

I have a best friend. That best friend is me. I do fun things with me. I
draw beautiful pictures. I ride fast! And I read good books with me. I
like to take care of me. I brush my teeth. I keep clean and I eat good
food. When I get up in the morning, I say, “Hi,good-looking!” I like my
curly tail, my round tummy, and my tiny little feet. When I feel bad, I
cheer myself up. When I fall down, I pick myself up. When I make
mistakes, I try and try again! No matter where I go, or what I do, I’ll
always be me, and I like that!!!

Alamat Ng Ampalaya
Dito
makikitang naghahabulan sina Labanos at Mustasa. Nagpapapintero rin sina
Bawang , Sibuyas, Upo at Patola. Nagtataguan sina Singkamas, Talong,at
Luya habang nagluluksong-baka sina Kamatis at Kalabasa. Isang araw,
umusbong ang isang kakaibang gulay. Siya’y si Ampalaya. Maputlang -

Della is a lovely little duckling but she cannot see. She is blind. Della
does not know what the worlds look like. She does not know what her
brothers and sisters look like. She does not even know what her mother
looks like. Della cannot see her mother. But she knows the sound of her
voice. Everyday, she hears her mother say, “Quack, quack, quack. It’s
time for your daily swim. Follow me to the pond.” The little ducks fall in
line as fast as they can. They follow their mother to the pond. Della is
always the last one in the line. She does not know where to go. So she
listen to the quacks of her brothers and sisters. The sounds guide her to
the pond. One day, Della walked very slowly. She got left behind. And
now she was all alone. “Quack, quack! Where are you, Mother?” Della
cried. “Where are you my brothers and sisters?” No one answered her.
She walked and walked and walked. But she could not find the pond. She
went on. Then she heard the bushes move. “Quack!” Della said. “Is that
you, Mother?” “Moo-moo!” How can I be your mother? I’m a cow,” said
the animal. Della was tired. She stopped to rest. Suddenly, she heard a
noise. ‘Who’s there,? Mother?” Della asked. “I’m Kitty the Cat. “Meow-
meow,” said the cat. “Meow? You can’t quack , too?” Della sat down on the
grass. “Boo-hoo!” she cried. “What will happen to me now? I can’t find my
family.” Then Della felt a pat on her back. “Mother? Tell me it’s you,”
Della asked. “Cluck-cluck! It’s me Mother Hen,” said the hen. “Cock-a-
doodle doo!” crowed the rooster.
“Oh, it’s you, Father Rooster,” Mother Hen said. “Meet my new friend,
dear. She’s a duckling.” “A duckling? What is she doing so far away from
her family?” Father Rooster asked.
“Did you see my family, sir?”Della asked excitedly. “I saw some ducks
and ducklings in the pond a while ago.”Father Rooster replied. “Come , I’ll
take you to them.” “Oh, thank you so much,” Della said. “Della, where have
you been? Quack! Quack! We were so worried,” a voice said. “Mother?
Oh, Mother I got lost,” Della cried. “It’s alright dear. You’re safe now,’”
Mother Duck said as she hugged her child. “Next time, stay close to your
brothers and sisters, Della”. “Yes, Mother,” Della said. “I don’t want to
get lost again, not ever.” Della kept her word. And she never got lost
again.
Kahit naroon an gang isang lumang
bisikleta na gusting – gusto niyang sakyan. Isang araw, binigyan si Anton
ng Nanay niya ng flashlight. Kapag madilim, pipindutin lang ni Anton ang
flashlight.
Anton.
“Puwede rin palang maging kaibigan ang dilim.”
The King soon felt hungry and went down to eat his breakfast. Now a
strange thing happened. When he raised a glass of clear cold water to
drink, it became solid gold. Not a drop of water could pass his lips. The
bread turned to gold under his fingers. The meat was hard, and yellow, and
shiny. Not a thing could he get to eat.All was gold, gold, gold. His little
daughter came running in from the garden.Of all living creatures she was
the dearest to him.He touched her with his lips.At once the little girl was
changed to a golden statue.A great fear crept into the King's heart,
sweeping all the joy out of his life.In his grief he called and called upon
the fairy who had given him the gift of the golden touch."O fairy," he
begged, "take away this horrible golden gift! Take all my lands. Take all
my gold. Take everything, only give me back my little daughter."In a
moment the beautiful fairy was standing before him."Do you still think
that gold is the greatest thing in the world?" asked the fairy.
"No! no!" cried the King. "I hate the very sight of the yellow stuff.""Are
you sure that you no longer wish the golden touch?" asked the fairy."I
have learned my lesson," said the King. "I no longer think gold the
greatest thing in the world.""Very well," said the fairy, "take this pitcher
to the spring in the garden and fill it with water. Then sprinkle those
things which you have touched and turned to gold."
The King took the pitcher and rushed to the spring. Running back he first
sprinkled the head of his dear little girl. Instantly she became his own
darling Marigold again, and gave him a kiss. The King sprinkled the golden
food, and to his great joy it turned back to real bread and real
butter. Then he and his little daughter sat down to breakfast. How good
the cold water tasted! How eagerly the hungry King ate the bread and
butter, the meat, and all the good food! The King hated his golden touch
so much that he sprinkled even the chairs and the tables and everything
else that the fairy's gift had turned to gold.

Milly and Molly’s friend Heidi Untidy lived in a jumble, a clutter, a mess.
It grew, it got bigger, it took a life of its own.
“But where do I start?” she asked her mother when her mother said, “tidy it
up.”
“Just start,” said her mother and closed the door tight, to stop it from all
getting out.
Heidi Untidy didn’t know where to start, so she curled up in it all and she
read.
Now Heidi was a reader.
She read to her mother.
She read to her fater.
She read to her brother and sister and anyone who cared to listen.
She liked some books better than others and she liked one best of all.
“Where’s my best book?” she cried.
“It’s buried, it’s smothered, you’ve drowned it,” said her mother.
“But where do I start?” she asked her mother when her mother said, “tidy it
up.”
“Just start,” said her mother and closed the door tight, to stop it from all
getting out.
So Heidi Untidy made a start.
She folded and stacked and stacked and tidied and folded and stalked some
more.
“I’ve found it alive. My best book,” she cried.
“Heidi, you’re tidy!” said her mother.
Milly and Molly’s friend Heidi Untidy was never untidy again.
Malamig ang simoy ng hangin. Malapit na talaga ang pasko. Huling araw nina
May pula, asul,
dilaw, lila at kahel. May parisukat,
bilog, parihaba at tatsulok.
maliliit at malalaking parol. Ang saya talaga dito sa paaralan.
Pero hindi masyadong masaya si Susana. Iniisip niya kasi ang sinabi ng guro
nila kahapon.

“Mia, kakaibang sombrero iyan, a!” bati ni Mang Kalor.

kalaro. “Sandal lang Toto!” sigaw ni Mia. Ngunit naitali na ni Toto ang

kanyang sombrero at natangay siya paitaas. Nakarating si Mia sa mga ulap!
Biglang lumobo ang kaniyang sombrero at nagging isang napakalaking

Alf put his boots on and mowed the council lawns. Elizabeth was
given a rubbish bag. She was asked to pick up every scarp of litter.
Jack offered to help Ernie in the rubbish truck. He collected the
rubbish bags. Meg put on her overalls. She was asked to help the
painter. Humphrey was given a bucket and scoop. He had the
important job of picking up all the soft and messy bits!.
Harry, Poppy, Tom, Milly and Molly, George, Sophie, Alf, Elizabeth,
Jack, Meg and Humphrey worked like little beavers.
When all was done… and the school was spotless, everyone had time
to rush home and scrub up before the Mayor swished up in he big,
black, shiny car.
“What a beautiful school you have,” said the Queen. “It is always
this tidy?” “Yes…well…no…well…sort of… sometimes… we tidied it up
for you,” clamoured Milly and Moly.
“Gracious me,” said the Mayor. “Thank you, I will ask the Mayor if
you can all join me for lunch.” Everyone had the best lunch they’d
ever had. And the Mayor rose to leave she said, “Now, when you
come to my office, you must all come and have lunch with me.”

Tatay. Walng anu-ano, mga tao’y nagtakbuahn. Bata, matanda, lahat
nagpulasan. Ang kawawang Eman, naiwan ng magulang. Sa gitna ng
kaguluhan, sa gitna ng takbuhan.

Miss Moo lived on a farm out in the countryside. Across the farm, from
the barn to the fields, all the animals lived happily together.
But for Miss Moo, nothing exciting ever happened. And without really
knowing why—
One day, Miss Moo announced to her barnyard friends: “I just can’t stay.
It’s so boring here! I think it’s time that i go my own way”
All the animals got together and said, “oh, Miss Moo! Please don’t go. We
love you so.” But Mis Moo shook her head, brushed away a moo-tear, and
said- “I have to go“
And off she went! Soon Miss Moo came together to another farm. She
saw friendly horses and sheep, a hen and her chicks, and a couple of pigs.
They all seemd happy, that was clear. But she knew that nothing would be
different here.
So She kept walking and walking until she came to the zoo.
It was the city zoo. A zoo for Miss Moo? What could she do but walk in
and explore? All of a sudden Miss Moo heard a strange animal sound.
Turning around, she saw-the Elephants
“Who are you, and what do you do?” The Elephants asked, but not very
nicely. “ I am a cow.” Replied Miss Moo. “ I give milk and I Moo. Can I
come and live with you?” “ Hummpphh!” said the elephants. “ You’re not
special. Go away and leave us now. We don’t want to live with a boring old
cow!”
Miss Moo turned sadly away and started to walk again. When she looked
up, she saw- the giraffes.
Who are you, and what do you do? The giraffes asked, but not very
nicely. “I am a cow”, said Miss Moo. “ I give milk and I Moo. Can I come
and live with you?” Hummpphh!” said the giraffes. “ You’re not special. Go
away and leave us now. We don’t want to live with a boring old cow.
Miss Moo turned sadly away and started to walk again. When she looked
up, she saw- the lions.
Who are you, and what do you do? The lions roared, but not very nicely. “
Oh, dear!”, said Miss Moo. “I am a cow, I give milk and I Moo. But I’m not
sure if I want to live with you ?” Hummpphh!” said lions. “ What’s so
special about a cow? Go away and leave us – NOW!
Miss Moo ran all the way to the other side of the zoo. And she began to
cry- “Moooo-hoooo!”
Who are you, and what do you do? The lions roared, but not very nicely. “
Oh, dear!”, said Miss Moo.”I’m just boring old cow”said Miss Moo. “ I can
only give milk, ang that won’t interest you.” “Hummpphh!” said the zebras.
“ Who are we to stay? We just stand in the sun and glaze all day. But the
zookeeperfeeds us right about now. He should know what to do with a
cow!”
Sure enough, the zookeeper walked right up to Miss Moon and said –
“Who are you, and what do you do?
“I,m not an elephant, big and gray. I’m not a giraffe who stretches tall
every day. I’m not even a lion with a great big roar. I’m just a cow who’s a
bit of a bore.”
“ Now, Miss Cow, that’s no way to talk. Come with me. Let’s go for a walk,”
said the zookeeper.
So Miss Moo followed him to—the Petting Zoo
What a surprise! Miss Moo could not believe her eyes. There were
children everywhere, petting and feeding the animals. And these animals
were not elephants, giraffes, or lions. They were--- pigs, sheep, hens
and horses!
“Miss Moo,” said the zookeeper. “ Your journey is at end. Stay here with
us and be our friend.” Miss Moo stared at all the children. She looked at
the animals who lived in the Petting Zoo. She smiled shyly and everyone
smiled back. And at last she knew what she would do. At last there was a
new home- for Miss Moo
“Baka mahawa tayo!” Pag-aalala ni Barakuda.
“Huu!, sakit lang yan ng maliliit!” Sabi ni Pugita.
Isang gabi, biglang nanigas si Pugita. Hindi niya maigagalaw ang kaniyang
mga galamay. “ Naku! Maysakit ka na rin!” Tarantang sigaw nina Pating at
Barakuda.

The animals that lives on the farm all make special sounds
On the farm there is a horse that goes NEIGH.... NEIGH and gallops
around.
And horses are fun to ride.
One day, Jodi was on her way to the corner market. With each step
she took, the coins in her pouch jingle-jangled. They seemed to say,
“Buy ice cream….buy peanuts….buy popcorn!”
Suddenly, Jodi heard the angry b-e-e-e-p of a car horn. The driver
screeched to a stop as a small gray kitten dashed across the street.
The frightened kitten ran right by Jodi and huddled in an empty
doorway.
Jodi forgot all about getting a treat. Very slowly, she walked toward
the kitten.
“Here, kitty, kitty, kitty,” she called softly.
At first the kitten shrank back. But as Jodi knelt down, the cat came
out and rubbed against Jodi’s legs.
“Meow, meow, meow, meow!” she cried.
How dirty and tangled the kitten’s fur was! How hungry she seemed to
be!
“You must be lost,” Jodi said. “But you can’t stay here. You’d better
come home with me.”
The little kitten seemed to understand. She let Jodi pick her up and
carry her home.
“Mom! Dad!” Jodi called out as she brought the kitten inside. Then she
poured some milk into a small bowl.
“And who do we have here?” asked Jodi’s father. Jodi explained how
she had found the lost kitten.
“She looks as if she’s been in a fight,” said Jodi’s mother. “We’d better
take her to the vet and make sure she’s O.K.”
And so the next day, the kitten went to see Dr. Jensen.
“She’s very thin,” Dr. Jensen said, “but she’s healthy. She could use a
bath, though!”
When Dr. Jensen brought the kitten out, Jodi could hardly believe her
eyes!
Jodi and her mother made signs to put up all around the neighborhood.
Secretly, Jodi hoped no one would call.
When the woman arrived, she went right over to Princess. Jodi held
her breath.
“Oh,” the woman said, “this looks just like my cat! But my cat has a red
patch of fur on her paw.”
Jodi felt like grinning. But she didn’t. She only said, “I hope you find
your cat soon.”
Princess just licked her paw.
No one called the next day. That made Jodi very happy!
Princess seemed happy, too. She followed Jodi all over the house.
When Jodi sat down, she sat down too. And she wouldn’t eat unless
Jodi was right there beside her.
“I love you,” Jodi said. “I hope I can keep you forever!”
Princess meowed as if to say, “I love you, too!”
But the morning there was another phone call. A boy had seen the sign.
“The cat you found sounds just like my cat,” the boy said.” Her name is
Jasmine.”
When the boy came to see Princess, Jodi crossed her fingers. The
kitten went to her bowl for some milk.
“Oh, she looks just like my cat!” the boy said. “But my cat always walks
around her bowl three times before she takes a drink!”
Jodi wanted to clap. But she didn’t. She only said, “I hope you find
Jasmine soon.”
Princess just rolled over onto her back.
One week went by without any more phone calls about the lost kitten.
Princess was always busy poking around here, there and everywhere.
Sometimes, she would turn upin the most surprising places.
Two weeks passed. Princess seemed to feel right at home. She had her
favorite spots for playing and washing up and eating and looking
outside.
Where did she like to curl up for her afternoon nap? Why, in an empty
backpack!
“Did you hear that Princess? You’re mine at last!” said Jodi, hugging
her.
Princess purred as if she understood.
