Industry / Company Overview

2.1 History of its establishment
1. The background of the establishment of Pertamina
The first search for petroleum in Indonesia was carried out by a Dutch person named
"JAANS REERING" but until 1874 he got no results, finally the search for petroleum in
Indonesia was found by another Dutch, namely "AELKO JAANS ZILKER" in 1885 , its
petroleum mining which will become the forerunner to the world's recast oil company
"SHELL". After Zilker managed to manage petroleum, Zilker also managed to find other
oil fields in Indonesia.

From 1885 to the 20th century, many foreign companies seized oil in Indonesia, such as:
the Netherlands, England, America, Japan.
Which of course does not give the slightest benefit to the Indonesian nation.
The Indonesian nation again seized oil refineries from foreign nations by establishing
many oil companies in Indonesia, Moh. Hasan on 10 December 1950 led to Indonesia
becoming no.1 as a national oil company under the name PT. PERMINA.

The nation's children continue to dig and buy assets of PT.SHELL Indonesia
In 1966. Then it was followed by the purchase of an oil refinery in the Stanvac Gerong
River in 1969.
On the initiative of Jend.A.H Nasution in 1968, there was a merger of 2 companies,
namely: PN. PERMINA which is engaged in production and PN.PERTAMIN which is
engaged in marketing, from this merger was born PN. PERTAMINA.

PN. PERTAMIN then changed to PERTAMINA with the enactment of Law No.8 of 1971
and Law No.22 of 2001 concerning Oil and Gas which gave rise to demands on

companies to transform in order to respond to future global challenges, the

transformation was carried out with 2 themes: Fundamental and Business

In order to strengthen this transformation, Pertamina has changed the company's vision
"To become a World Class National Energy Company".
To maintain national energy defense, Pertamina also undergoes exploration and
production of oil and gas in various working areas belonging to Pertamina, such as:
Rantau Jambi, Prabu Mulih, Karang Ampel Cepu, Sangata, Sorong.

The jam was also first given the support of various crude oil refineries throughout
Indonesia.
Pertamina has also prepared energy abroad such as in: Malaysia, Iraq, Vietnam, and Al
Jazar by looking for new energy sources.

3.1 Fields and types of activities

The scope of implementation of PRAKERIN is carried out at the Dept. Employee Service
& OS Services with guidance from company advisors. Activities during PRAKERIN include the
following: Creating a database in excel, Scanning documents and converting them to PDF

3.2 BASIC THEORY

3.2.1 The theoretical basis used to do practical work is Excel, such as:

First, create the columns and rows you want to create then type Format Cells as above

Select the Page border that you want to use

If you have the display will be like the image above

Lalu drag baris yang ingin diajadikan colom page yang ingin dijadikan kolom

3.2.2 The second basic theory used to do practical work is Scan documents and convert them to
PDF, for example as below:

1. Connect the printer to a power source (wall socket).

8. Turn on your scanner and then open the Windows Scan application. Here, Windows Scan should
immediately recognize your scanner. If there is more than one scanner detected, first select the scanner
you will use at this time. Change the File type option to PDF

3.3 Problems and follow-up

3.3.1 Problems

As internship students who carry out tasks or activities, they will not be separated from
all the problems, therefore the problem must also be balanced by how to overcome them.
The following are the inhibiting factors (problems) that the author experienced:

1. Sufficient difficulty in adapting to a large environment.

2. Limited knowledge to carry out the tasks given at the PRAKERIN place because the
material taught at school is not used there.

Jl. Rorotan VI, No. 1, RT. 4/RW. 5, Cilincing

3. It is quite difficult to operate the tools that are used in PRAKERIN's premises because
at school there is no material that recognizes the tools that are often used in the Industrial
World.

3.3.2 How to solve the problem

1. The author must get acquainted, greet, and start a conversation so that the author is more
easily adaptable to the new environment.

2. Each author is given a task that the author does not know or is unclear then the author asks
again so that unwanted errors do not occur.

3. The author asks the supervisor to be recognized and taught how to use these tools which I do
not know their function and how to use.

4.1 CONCLUSION

With the Agency Job Training (PRAKERIN), we can conclude that this activity is very
beneficial for Vocational High School (SMK) students. The work experience gained will make
students have professional skills in their fields, and educate students to have a high sense of
discipline and responsibility. In the explanation in the previous chapters, we can draw the
following conclusions:

1. Industrial work practice activities (prakerin) are very beneficial for students, especially us
students of SMK Negeri 4 Jakarta. With the existence of industrial work practice activities
(prakerin) students are required to have an independent attitude and be able to interact
with others so that students are expected to have high skills and insight.

2. Internships can support us to become intermediate workers who are experts and
professionals in their fields who are able to meet the national or even international market.
That way we will have an attitude that will become the basis for sustainable self-
development and can practice what has been obtained, in everyday life.

3. Improve, expand and strengthen the skills that shape our capabilities and insights, as
provisions for employment and in accordance with the study program obtained.

4. Growing and strengthening our personality to enter the workforce in accordance with the
field of interest.

5. Provide the opportunity for us to familiarize ourselves with the actual atmosphere of the
work environment, especially those with respect to work discipline.

The author would like to thank PT. Pertamina, which has provided the opportunity for
writers to carry out Industrial Job Training activities, We are aware that in carrying out these
Internship activities there are still many shortcomings.

It is not easy for writers to implement internship, because not all of the material that
the authors learn at school is applied in the world of work. For personal writers, they
certainly feel happy to learn and seek experience at PT. Pertamina because the
environment is not only clean and healthy, the supervisors are also very friendly

In addition, this Internship Report is still far from perfect. Therefore, we really need
constructive suggestions to improve this report which is still far from perfect.
