Lesson: Practice 2

Practice: Create a threaded hole and insert and join hardware to retain components.

• Use Hole.
• Insert components from McMaster-Carr.
• Use Align.
• Apply a rigid group.

1. Carry on with the file from Practice Exercise 1.

2. Activate the component, ”Front Panel”, and

create a new sketch on the face closest to the
housing feet.

NOTE: It will be easier to hide the housing in order to

3. Project the inside diameter of each foot by
using “P” on the keyboard and selection each
inside edge.

4. Using the projected edge center points create a

threaded hole feature using “Hole”. Set the
placement option to allow the use of multiple
sketch points and create a 5-40 UNC threaded
hole deep enough to go through the entire boss
on the inside of the front panel, but not all the
way through the entire part.
