ABSTRACT

Looking for main topic for our

investigatory wasn’t easy. We needed to
consider those who will use it. Banana
peel as an ingredient was what we came
up to see that fits our interest. The
procedure and the materials are needed
to follow. We had few hypotheses that
we came up with. We failed on our first
and second attempt, but the 3rd attempt
was successful. We tried it on the floor
and it was successful. We therefore
concluded that banana peels could be a
floor wax.
MATERIALS

 Candle
 Banana peels
 Crayon
 Pan
 Stove
 Gasoline
PROCEDURE
Step 1: Mix ½ gas and candle in a
large mixing pot. Melt over on heat
until it’s melted thoroughly.
Step 2: Pour in any crayon and stir
every five minutes without removing
the heat.
Step 3: Add banana peels. Stir into
the mixture without removing the
heat.
Step 4: Stir for five minutes. Then boil
at low hit for 15 minutes to allow wax
in the peels to mix with the solution.
Step 5: Remove from heat. Wait until
the liquid become firm and voila.
SIGNIFICANCE OF
THE STUDY
The significance of the study is for us
to find something to take place of
dangerous chemical that can harm our
health. It is also important that we
humans find solutions to take care of
our mother earth because it’s dying and
it is time to change. Banana peels as an
alternative floor wax is a great example
of something that is beneficial to our
health, nature and the environment.
OBJECTIVE
The main objective is to
scientifically prove that making
a banana peel as an alternative
floor wax will be acceptable to
the environment factor.
CONCLUSION
Trying to make banana peel as an
alternative floor wax was successful and
productive. The experiment took time to work
however, the result was worth our time and
effort. We identified its distinctive qualities
and positive effects to the environment.
We can assure everyone that it is effective
to use and not expensive at all. You can always
make a floor wax on your own using these
ingredients.
Therefore, we concluded that making floor
wax using banana peels does not cost much
and most importantly, it is environmentally
friendly.
BACKGROUND OF
THE STUDY
A banana is an edible fruit – botanically a berry –
produced by several kinds of large herbaceous flowering
plants in the genus Musa. In some countries, bananas
used for cooking may be called "plantains",
distinguishing them from dessert bananas.
Floor wax is a liquid mixture of chemicals that create
a thin, hard, protective surface when applied and
allowed to dry on a surface. Floor wax offers glossiness,
additional hardness, slip and scuff resistance, while
protecting the floor from water or other liquid damage.
Banana peel can be an alternative source of floorwax.
This home-made floor wax will give a comparable shine
and smoothness to that of commercial products, and the
oil in the kerosene counteracts the banana peel’s
stickiness to ensure the finished sheen isn't tacky.
