COURTESY IS THE BEST POLICY

Good day everyone! I’m here to talk about ‘courtesy is the best policy’

Ladies and gentlemen,

What is courtesy? It means polite behaviour or a polite action. Courtesy is the essence of good
manners. Courtesy has a great impact in our daily life. A kind word is a very little thing but it has a great deal in
our life and sometime these kind word give us a better reward.
Courtesy is not only satisfying ourselves but give pleasure to others. A person is forgiven when he
apologises politely and courteously. Harsh or rude verb cause more pain than wrong deed. Do you know words
like` Please’, ` Thank You’, and` Sorry’ are small but can do wonders if spoken with courtesy?
My fellow friends,

Courtesy is reflected in how we conduct ourselves in our day-to-day life. We can show courtesy at home, in the
classroom at school, on the playground, and at any other place too whether we are traveling on a bus or flight, or
enjoying an excursion or a holiday. Our parents and teachers help us to develop courtesy. It is best to learn
courtesy in childhood. If we have courtesy, we are appreciated and loved by our family, teachers, classmates,
and friends.

Modesty, humbleness, kindness, and courtesy are the essential traits of a well behaving person. Hence, a well-
behaved person never feels proud or arrogant and always take care of the feelings of others. Practicing these
priceless good manners and following them all through the day will definitely bring sunshine and add qualities
to life.

As we all know, courtesy is always starts at home. If we are good to our parents, family and siblings, we will
definitely good to the strangers. And the child notices the behaviour of their parents too. So “if the parents are
behaving nicely with each other, the kids will ultimately learn those good manners or bad manners”, said Albert
Bandura.

Some parents focus on the study and grades of the children but they completely forget the righty brought up that
can affect the kid’s personality. So it is the responsibility of the parents to educate the courtesy to their kids so
they could move in the society with a high head. After parents, teachers should also teach the students to behave
well. Teaching is not only their job. But they should also focus on the personality development of the kids. A
good personality can only come from good manners and etiquette.

Thus, courtesy should be inculcated right in the childhood. The good behavior and conduct ingrained in us from
childhood seldom leave us. The traits that make up good manners help us through life. Courtesy spread good
cheer. It is vital to each and everyone in the society. These will definitely help us for getting popularity and
success in life because nobody likes mischief and misbehaved person. Courtesy is like a tonic to the people
living in society.

People with polite and pleasant nature are always popular and respectable by a large number of people.
Obviously, such people are having magnetic influence over others. Thus, we must practice and follow this good
manners in our life always.

Ladies and gentlemen,

We should be courteous even we have to turn down a request. A courteous person will never leave
anyone in adverse at any cost and will always try to help them. They happily give support whatever someone
needs. Courtesy needs us to be modest, tasteful, humble, and decent in our talking and acting with others. It is a
gift to treat others with warmth and respect. Thus, it makes us beautiful.
It cost nothing but pays a lot in return. A courteous person is liked and loved by all as the saying goes `
what goes around comes around’. Courtesy doesn’t only live in words but it presents in kind and good deed too.
When we show kind behaviour to others as a results the other also respect us and we will feel delighted
throughout the life. In short, respect is earned not given.
However, nowadays the number of these type of people is less. Therefore, our society is suffering a lot.
Courtesy create great atmosphere of living with coherence. A nice and a sincere smile in our faces or a simple
`hello’ as a warm greeting from us to other or vice versa may bring us to the joyful mood of the day. We must
avoid rudeness while dealing with others as it may hurt them. Besides, these send a strong message of high ethic
about us. The politeness and pleasing feelings is the free beauty package sold without any cost. Am I right?
Ladies and gentlemen,
A good mannered person is always appreciated and respected by people. People like to have friendship
with those who are good mannered. A person who doesn’t have good manners will lose self-respect as the
saying goes, you reap what you sow. Good manners spread love, affection, kindness and win others’ hearts and
make sincere friends. Courtesy bring decency, politeness as well as nourishes good wishes for others.
The respect of elders, love of younger, take care of neighbours, help the friends, class fellow, parents
also included in a good manner. To talk with other in a polite behaviour is also show the good manners. By
doing all these, our life will be happier, pleasant, and comfortable.
The eldest, seniors, and parents should act as a role model of courtesy for the youngsters and children.
Teacher can play an important role too in making people courtesy. Hence, courtesy should be inculcated in
childhood so that they take firm root, and can see one true life as courtesy makes a person beautiful.
Even though courtesy cost absolutely nothing, using it can be one of our most valuable assets in our
daily life. Having good manners and using them to guide our own behavior sounds simple enough but often
people underestimate the value of this personal commodity. Most important, good manners show us having
respect for ourselves and people around us.

Ladies and gentlemen,

Do you know courtesy show gratitude? When we thank a person for helping or when we simply say “please”
when asking for a favor, we immediately show respect for the time and energy of our parents, friends or
neighbours and they will be more than happy to help us the next time. This attitude of gratitude goes both ways
and can enhance our daily relationships.

Besides that, courtesy also show class. By keeping our place clean or making sure to not leave any dirty
things, we exhibit class by showing respect for our shared environment and ensuring that others will not have to
clean up after us.

Courtesy is memorable. When we take the time to send a thank you note to our parents, teacher, friends or give
a gift card to them, we make an impression that can last a lifetime. People remember these little gestures and,
who knows, they may be the one in a position to help you in the future. Of course, it’s not why you should do
special gestures, but it can be one of the positive ripple effects of being nice to others.

Courtesy makes you feel good. When we use good manners, we are spreading compassion and care to others
which can uplift our mood. Knowing we are doing our part to promote positivity and respect for our fellow
human beings can make anyone feel much better about themselves and the part they play in the world.

Ladies and gentlemen,

It is essential for all of us to understand the value of courtesy. Always remember, it does not cost anything to be
courtesy. It may be a little compliment or it can be a grand gesture, no matter how big or small, courtesy always
matters. Therefore, let’s try our best to be courtesy to everyone around us.

In conclusion, the more appreciative we are towards people that do something nice for us and the less
we take them for granted the more those people will want to help us out in the future because it makes us
beautiful.
Thankyou for lending me your ears. Have a wonderful day!
