I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the student should be able to:
1. identify the different types of sewing equipment;
2. enumerate types of sewing machine;
3. recognize the use of different sewing machines.

emphasize the outline of a design.
Very good! Now who can give me
the examples of outline stitches?

Sir we have Pekinese stitch, back hand

stitch, and stem stitch.
 Very good! So, let us move on to our
next lesson.

B. Motivation
Before that, I brought something here
and show you these objects one by
one and you must determine what
are these objects. If your answer is
correct, I will give you a prize.

Here is the first object, what do you

call it?

Anyway, I have shown you three

objects, right? Yes sir!

Where do you think we can use those

three objects? (student raise their hands)

(calls a student) Sir we can use them in sewing machine.

Yes! Correct! we can use those parts

or objects which is important in
performing any sewing activity.

Let us now proceed to the different

types of sewing machine.

First is lockstitch sewing machine. It is

commonly used in our home or in
school and it is usually run by foot but
it can also be converted in to electric
power machine.

Next is Hi-Speed sewing machine. It is

used by dressmakers or tailors.

Sir aside from a person who used it,
what are the difference between the
two?
The difference of it is that, lockstitch is
slower than the hi-speed sewing
machine.

Another one is over edging machine.

Anyone who have an idea on this?

 Sir it finishes the raw edge of the pattern
for construction.

Next is the Embroidery sewing

machine. This is used in making fancy
stitches and making different kind of
embroidery.

The next one is Button Holer sewing

machine from the term itself; we use
this machine to make a buttonhole in
a garment.

Last one is Button attachment sewing

machine. Any idea in this type of
machine? (The students answer may vary)
Sir from its term “button”, it is used to put
on buttons on a garment.
Exactly. As what he said it is used to
attach buttons on the garment.

Very good! In todays time, we have a
