MODULE 4: Elements of Arts

Introduction
Kapag tiningnan mo ang isang magandang bahay, sa unang tingin, ang kabuuan ang makikita
mo. Kung susuriin nang mabuti, ang kagandahan nito ay dulot ng mga pinagsasama-samang
construction materials: kahoy; semento; tiles; bubog; pintura; at iba pa. Sa larangan ng sining
parang ganito rin. Ang isang painting, halimbawa, ay tinitingnan natin sa kabuuan nito. Ngunit
kung tayo ay gugugol ng mas mahabang oras at susuriin ang painting, mapapansin natin na ito
pala ay binubuo ng maraming sangkap na tinatawag nating “elements of art.”

Kaya naman, layunin ng module na ito na maipakilala ang mga elements of art upang mas
lumalim ang pag-appreciate natin sa mga likha ng mga alagad ng sining, pati na rin ang mga
likha ninyo na nagawa o gagawin pa lamang.

I. Elements of Art

1. Lines- continuous mark made on some surface by a moving dot

2. Geometric Shapes- formed when lines connect, flat and two-dimensional


3. Biomorphic Shapes- models artistic design elements on naturally occurring patterns or
shapes reminiscent of nature and living organisms

4. Space- refers to the distance or area between, around, above, below, or within things or
objects
5. Form- three-dimensional shapes

6. Color- most expressive element of art, absorption and reflection of light on a surface
7. Texture- tactile quality of a surface that can be conveyed through the use of line, color and
shape

1. Create a ZENTANGLE by applying the lessons in this module. Use a piece of short bond
or Oslo paper and a pen of your choice. The product should be black and white.
2. Write an artist’s statement explaining how you used the elements and principles of art
or your process in creating the ZENTANGLE.
