OBJECTIVE

The purpose of this procedure is to provide guidelines for tagging of equipment, piping,
instrument and electrical item for Mero 3 project, to be used throughout the project duration
to ensure systematic control and traceability.

SCOPE

This procedure applies for Mero 3 related items installed by OWNER and all the Project
CONTRACTORS such as Aker Solutions, Siemens etc.

2.1 NEW ITEM

The procedure is to be implemented by OWNER and CONTRACTORS such as Aker
Solutions, Siemens etc. All new process, utilities, marine and outfitting’s items shall be
tagged in accordance with this procedure. The application of the procedure shall not be
limited to topside system and will be compulsory for hull, marine and outfitting parts.

2.2 REPAIR, LIFE EXTENSION AND CONVERSION

CONTRACTORS involved in Mero 3 Project is required to use this procedure. The
requirement is applicable for new equipment, skid, package and system for a conversion
project. New equipment and its associated modification within marine system, hull and
outfitting’s shall have clear boundaries demarcation. Part of the requirement to have clear
established boundaries is for the purpose of mechanical completion, pre-commissioning
and commissioning activity.

Sequence numbers for piping line numbers shall be assigned with a four-digit number
starting from 0001 to 9999 for each system group.

7.6 APPLICATION OF PIPING CLASSES

The purpose and benefits of piping classes are summarized as follows:
1. Standardization of piping material and piping systems design within MISC.
2. Minimized Risk of errors due to under and / or over specification in Piping Materials
Specifications for Purchasing / Procurement.
3. Variety control, leading to reduced costs of stocking material.
4. Integrity control in relation to applied standards.
For details, please refer to:
a) Topsides Piping Material Specification (Doc. No. MR3-AKER-PIP-SPN-2000ZZ-30001)
b) Marine System Pipe Class and Material Specification (Doc. No. MR3-AKER-MSE-SPN-

7.7 PRESSURE, MATERIAL AND PIPING IDENTIFIER

Topside pipe standard covers ASME and API Standards. In case JIS or other pipe standard
was made as the reference for the project, thus specific project pressure identified shall be
develop accordingly. Where practical, equivalent pressure identifier can also be use as
guideline.
For details, please refer to:

Valve identification is very important during FEED and detail engineering stage. The
following tagging guideline is applicable for valve identification number. Table below
applied as a guideline for valve acronyms and tag. All valves tagging shall be using below
abbreviation. The main user of valve tag is for identification in various project
documentation such as P&ID, valve list, MTO etc.

Field Value Description

Alphabetical suffix shall not be used, to differentiate between
typical arrangement on trains / skids packages.

IDENTIFICATION OF INSTRUMENTATION

All field instrumentation and fire and gas devices shall be identified based on the format
specified herein. The intent is for all field instruments and fire and gas devices to be
uniquely tagged, with a secondary objective of making the tags logical and consistent for
human pattern recognition of relationships and functions.

10.1 FIELD INSTRUMENTATION IDENTIFIER

The instrument tag number shall include a letter or series of letters (functional identification)
to identify the function of an instrument or control component. Instrument tag numbers shall
take the following format:

Electrical equipment tagging for VFD for pump motor (PM-202001).

EEE - Equipment Identifier
Electrical Equipment Code.
(Section 14: Equipment Identifier)
Can be one, two or three letters
Refer Table 32 Refer Table 31 & Table 34

Example: VFD-PM-202001
VFD - PM-202001
PM=Pump Motor
20=Topside
VFD= Variable Frequency Drive
20=Separation & Stabilization
01=Sequence No of system 20

When electric motor is coupled to mechanical equipment such as pump or compressor,

then the electric motor tagging shall be based on the main equipment it is coupled to.

Electric Motor tagging method: Equipment Functional Code + M - BBCCZZ

Equipment Functional code - refer to Appendix 2. Take the main code, e.g. A, P, K etc.
M = Motor
BBCC = Appendix 1 (follow equipment)

Example:
Mechanical equipment (Pump): PA-202001
Electric motor: PM-202001

Mechanical Equipment (Compressor): KA-202111

Electric Motor: KM-202111

It should be the same concept for electric generator coupled to gas turbine unit.
