Plastic Recycling Guideline
Main Focus:
• The focus is on polyolefins from the waste bin or household waste - technical options for
bringing plastics back into the cycle.

Goal :
• High-quality plastic products made from post-consumer and post-industrial recyclate

Cooperation project „rePETitio“

Goal:
• The aim of this project is to facilitate the use of recycled materials from rPET.
• Proof that PET waste beyond PET bottles can be processed into new strapping,
PET food cups and PET hollow bodies, in compliance with all product-specific
approval regulations.

Interreg: Circular 4.0

02.12.2021 43
Project “From residual material to valuable
material”
Goal:
• The project was provided an overview of the legal situation and help companies to
adapt and optimize their operational waste management to current requirements.

• Interested companies are offered the opportunity to qualify one or more employees
for the current legal challenges that the circular economy package brings with it
and the aim was to connect the participants together to learn from one another and
to benefit from the ideas and experiences of the participants.

The Plastics Cluster organizes various qualification and training programs for the plastic sector in order to
respond to the specific needs of the industry and increase competences sustainably and successfully:

 Johannes Kepler University Linz - Institute for Polymeric Materials Testing

 40h seminar
 From plastic recycling basics to the use of machine learning for constant output quality (Industry 4.0,
digitization in connection with recycling)

02.12.2021 45
Summary: Main challenges

• Design4Circularity
• Collection
• Sorting technology
• Recycling technologies (mechanical, chemical, solvent-based

Woven fabric. What else?

• Woven Polypropylene (wPP) bags are clearly the material of choice*:

Woven plastic fabric is without doubt one of the

most sustainable packaging solutions world-wide,
global demand is increasing at the rate of 4% p.a.
– more than any other industrial packaging material.

• Without wPP packaging, today’s commerce

and logistics would be unthinkable.
• Today the range of applications for woven plastic fabric
is almost unlimited, and new uses for this outstanding
material pop up at a tremendous pace.
• One of the driving forces behind this triumphal procession of woven
fabric is for more than 50 years Starlinger. * Lowest raw material to filling material ratio.
