Activity 3 DRR

1. Enumerate the various earthquake hazards. Which of these are likely to

affect your community?

- Ground faulting, ground shaking, landslides, liquefaction, tectonic

deformation, and tsunamis are all earthquake threats that can cause damage
to buildings and resources, as well as injury and death. Surface faulting,
earth shaking, and landslides are also possible consequences for our society.

2. How can you tell that a tsunami can or cannot affect dwelling place?
What signs will tell you that a tsunamigenic earthquake that just had
occurred is close enough to do damage? What other earthquake hazards
could affect your place?

- A tsunami will damage a dwelling place while it is near the sea or shore,
based on what I've seen and heard over the last few years. As we all know,
tsunamis occur in the ocean and scatter over the ground side. The tsunami is
most likely to have the least impact on people who live far away from the
ocean.

3. For each earthquake hazard, name two possible effects to the ground
and to structure.

- That would almost certainly result in a sink hole or a massive fracture in the
earth, and that might cause the house to collapse or fall.

4. Aside from earthquake drills, describe what activities your school

conducts to teach students what to do before, during, and after an
earthquake. You can interview your adviser or school administrators about
such activities.

- To be more likely to learn any first aid instructions, to know where to go, to
remain calm, and, most importantly, to trust God and pray to Him.
