 Picture A (Baguio’s Giant Christmas tree) has different colors. This would
depict the different emotions of the viewers and the people who made it. The
red color emits excitement; yellow color invites people to be joyful.

Study this image. What is the color that is dominant? It is the color of the sky
which is blue. The use of blue as the accent color draws the eye to this point. It
evokes feelings of peace, cold, calm and harmony. How about the green color? It
drives the viewer with energy, freshness and safety.
Gaze as one of the visual elements refers to where the figure in the image is
looking. It is a useful way to convey meaning through an image because we can see
where and how a figure is looking at something.
To gaze is to stare, it suggests looking fixedly at something especially at that
which excites admiration, curiosity or interest. To gaze at a scenery, at a scientific
experiment
Types of gaze:

1. Demand or direct is a term use when a figure in the image gazes directly out
of the page at the responder. This establishes a connection between subject and
viewer.

2. Extra Diegetic or Non – gaze. The character is looking at something outside of

the text.

What I Have Learned

Keep in Mind:
Color can be used to express and develop ideas in images for
interacting and relating with others through images, and for composition and
structure of images (Kress and van Leeuwen, 2002: van Leeuwen, 2010)
The use of colors can be symbolic and choice of color in an image can be
used to represent feelings and mood. The meaning, viewers make depends on the
context and cultural conventions.
To gaze is to stare, it suggests looking fixedly at something especially at that
which excites admiration, curiosity or interest. To gaze at a scenery, at a scientific
experiment
