however for a CSU with programmable CTC and 15 channels, the channel selection
on the internal buses is limited to either the first or the last 15 channels of the bus. So,
precautions have to be taken that no other CSU's use either the first or the last 15 bus
channels.
When the channels on the CSU's occupy more than 30 time slots, at least one CSU should
be placed in such a position that the corresponding channels are connected to bus 2. In
this way the system configuration can be adapted, if required, by means of man-machine
commands only and without the need to rearrange the subrack layout.
In case of channel drop and insert or digital channel distribution, up to 5 slave PCM
controller units can be mounted. They should be placed preferably in the positions 6 to 11
(in position 1 to 5 the bus 1 and bus 2 are interchanged, which may lead to confusions).
A second DC/DC converter can be mounted in one of the positions 1 to 10 (option).
Auxiliary units, if required, can be placed on any of the remaining places. Remark that the
1VF tone generator occupies up to 5 time slots on the internal bus 1 or 2.
In case 1511BA with clock protection the slave PCMC controller unit can be mounted
in position 10 or 11.

Power supply connector, connected to the distribution cable 772 55102 AXAA via a
connection cable 772 55103 AAAA if the distribution cable is provided or connected to a
battery connection block via connection cable 772 55103 ABAA if the distribution cable is
not provided.
If the subrack is equipped in a module with distribution cable, the subrack power is
connected as shown below :

EG
Electrical ground connector.
BATR
Battery voltage connector (positive pole).
+5V
+5 V connector :
if an alarm subrack with CASU is equipped on the module and there is no DC/DC
converter on the alarm subrack, then this connector is connected on only one first
order multiplexer subrack to the power distribution cable 772 55102 AXAA for the +5
V supply to the alarm subrack;
if an extension subrack 772 55249 is associated with the multiplexer subrack, then this
connector is connected to the corresponding connector on the extension subrack via a
cable 772 55016.
-5V
-5 V connector, connected to extension subrack 772 55249 (if provided) via a cable 772
55016.
BATF
Fused battery voltage connector (from DC/DC converter), connected to extension subrack
772 55249 (if provided) via a cable 772 55016.
CS
Central supervisory connector, connected to the supervisory distribution flatcable, if
provided and if a CASU or CNCC is provided on the module.
AL
Alarm bus output connector for remote alarm supervision system. The signals on this
connector depend on the PCMC variant :
PCMC : 772 52102 BBBA / 3AL 43018 BXXX
The open collector alarm output is active (low impedance with respect to
ARTN=ground) in case of alarm on the system.
MTL1
Multiple connector 1 (through-connection between subracks) : this connector can be used
as follows :
used for the connection of a +48 V supply for some signalling units if provided;
if the optional TEST-E unit is equipped on one subrack of the module, see section 4 of
the manual (operation), it is used for the through-connection of the test bus :
Meaning :
TPCM system :
Signal 2 : +48V : positive battery supply for some CSUs (if provided) via cable
772 55149
Signal 3 - 4 - 5 : not connected
SPCM system :
MTL2
Multiple connector 2 (through-connection between subracks) : can be used for the ringing
bus (normally not used).
Meaning :
TPCM system : Signal 0 - 1 - 8 : not connected
SPCM system :
exchange : Signal 0 - 1 - 8 : not connected
subscriber :
Signal 0 : RBR : ring bus ring lead
Signal 1 : RBT : ring bus tip lead
Signal 8 : not connected
CL
Clock signal connector :
Meaning :
C2OT-C2OF : system clock output
ECLKIT-ECLKIF : external synchronization clock input
By means of straps on the PCM controller unit both the output and the input can be
matched to 120 Ω balanced or 75 Ω unbalanced. In the latter case the A-pins or the
B-pins can be grounded (refer to the strap options on the PCM controller unit).
VAL
Auxiliary alarm input connector (only if a CNCC is provided in position 13) :
EXT
Connectors used only when an extension subrack 772 55249 is provided or if a CNCC is
provided on this subrack :
CNCC on subrack :
the 2x2-pin connector of a cable 772 55104 AAAX is placed in position 9 and 10 of
the lower EXT connector of this subrack in order to drive the alarm lamps on the
installation module, if provided.
Extension subrack :
a cable 772 55122 AAAA is placed in the upper EXT connector of this subrack and
of the extension subrack;
a cable 211 03141 AAFA is placed in the lower EXT connector of this subrack and
of the extension subrack.

6 Strap fields :
Used only if a CASU or CNCC is provided on the module.
Strap field 1 (between EXT and Q2 connectors) : selection of operation mode
For detailed information, refer to section 3 of the manual : installation.
Strap field 2 (above flatcable connector) :
The system numbers for the central alarm system are assigned according to the
installation description (section 3 of the manual), depending upon the position of the
subrack on the module.
In the normal exploitation mode the straps in the second half of this strap field have to
be placed between the upper rows.
In the extended addressing exploitation mode the straps in the second half of this strap
field have to be placed between the lower rows.
