1 Function
The 9 position desktop housing was specifically designed to house 1 first order multiplexer.
Boards can be added to form a complete multiplexer as per desired specifications. A DC
power feed must be provided.
2 Front View
The desktop housing is depicted without its front cover. Switch S is located on the backpanel
of the housing.

3 Subrack Equipment
2 basic configurations are possible on this housing, selectable by switch (see switch settings)
: with CNCC or without CNCC.
Network Controller CNCC equipped in the housing
1 CNCC unit in position 9;
1 master PCM controller unit in position 8;
1 ringer/power unit in position 7;
the positions 1 to 6 can be equipped with a redundant ringer/power board and the
necessary CSU's to build 1 multiplexer system :
the CSU's in position 4 to 6 are connected to the internal bus 1;
the CSU's in position 1 to 3 are connected to the internal bus 2.
Network Controller CNCC not equipped in the housing
1 ringer/power unit in position 9;
1 master PCM controller unit in position 8;
the positions 1 to 7 can be equipped with the necessary CSU's to build 1 multiplexer
system :
the CSU's in position 4 to 7and 5 are connected to the internal bus 1;
the CSU's in position 1 to 3 are connected to the internal bus 2.
Remarks :
in case of channel drop and insert, a slave PCM controller unit can be mounted in any
of the positions 1 to 6.
a redundant ringer/power board can be mounted in any of the positions 1 to 6.
the housing is primarily intended to be used with channel units (CSU's) with 10 or 15
channels per unit (or occupying 10 or 15 time slots on the internal bus). However,
other channel units can be mounted as well. Channel units with different signalling
types can be combined in one housing.
when the channels on the CSU's occupy more than 30 time slots, at least one CSU
should be placed in such a position that the corresponding channels are connected to
bus 2. In this way the system configuration can be adapted, if required, by means of
man-machine commands only and without the need to rearrange the layout.
an integrated line test unit ILTAUS can be mounted in any of the positions 1 to 6.
auxiliary units, if required, can be placed on any of the remaining places.
In case 1511BA with clock protection the slave PCMC controller unit can only be
mounted in position 6.
5 Power unit
The power unit is used to :
interrupt the power supply either manually or automatically in case of overcurrent.
provide an EMC filter on the power supply.
protect the boards in this housing from transients and surges on the battery power
supply.
7 System addresses
1 multiplexer system can be mounted on this housing. If a CNCC is mounted on the
housing, the Q1 bus addresses for the system on the housing are fixed in the backpanel
wiring. For some general information, refer to section 3 of the manual : installation.
The addresses are assigned to the units on the housing as follows :
address 1 belongs to the PCM controller unit in position 8 and the ringer/power unit in
position 7 or 9;
address 2 belongs to the redundant ringer/power unit in position 1 to 6, if provided;
address 3 belongs to the unit in position 1; *1
address 4 belongs to the unit in position 2; *1
address 5 belongs to the unit in position 3; *1
address 6 belongs to the unit in position 4; *1
address 7 belongs to the unit in position 5; *1
address 8 belongs to the unit in position 6; *1
address 9 belongs to the unit in position 7; *2
address 10 belongs to the unit in position 8. *2
