Cables placement will take place mainly above ground in perforated, ladder-type cabl
e trays.
Placement of cable rollers every 6-12 meters or as required will ensure that the cable
will not be in contact with the tray.
If a cable winch is used, it will be installed properly for cable pulling.
The drum schedule will be used to identify the cable drum that will be used for cable p
ulling.
A gripper or a cable shock will be used to fix the cable to the winch.
Cable laying will begin from one end of the route or any other suitable point if needed
Prior to cable cutting, inspection of both ends shall take place to make sure there is s
ufficient length for proper dressing and end termination.
Right after every cable is finished, all cables shall be tested for insulation resistance
Installation of cable tags.
Update the cable and drum schedules with cable pulling information.
Trefoil (three-foil formation) laying shall be used with single core cables.
Punch list and installation shall be inspected.
When cable lying is completed, insulation test will take place according to attached for
mat.
Raceways’ inspection will make sure that wires are compliant with the installation
When more than one wire is installed in the same raceway, they should be pulled in th
e raceway at the same time.
Use guide wires and similar equipment when wire pulling, to support the tension and
avoid possible damage.
Wherever the Engineer approves, use lubricant or wire pulling compound if necessary.
Ensure that the pulling compound used is chemically compatible with any insulations
or conductors it touches.
Conductor splices must be enclosed in junction boxes
Use a minimum of 300mm of slack conductors inside DB and at each outlet as neede
d.
Ensure proper wire installation in all boxes.
Following installation, the Wires Insulation Test should be conducted according to the
attached format.

lengths.
Prior to installation of duct coordination with other trades / discipline will be done.
Position of duct support shall be marked on the underside of the stab/structural
member/vertical walls as the case and mechanical anchor.
Threaded rod of suitable size as per approved drawings shall be fixed to mechanical
anchor fastener / clamps using proper lock nut.
Duct pieces shall be installed and joined together as detailed of approved drawing.
Volume control dampers and fire dampers shall be installed at the location shown on
approved shop drawing.
Installation of the duct work applies approved duct sealant to all flanged joint of the
duct work installed by using sealant gun.
Duct joint, joints of branch tapping butterfly dampers, volume control dampers, etc.
shall be insulated materials as detailed above.
Flexible duct connecters shall be provided at all location where the ductwork crosses.
Duct shall be connected to FAHU ’s FCU’s with flexible insulated duct connector.
Duct shall be connected to fans with flexible duct connector.
Duct work surface shall be cleaned with dry cloth to remove any surface dust and cut
ends of angles & flanges which will be paint coated with zinc rich paint.
Suitable plenum box be connected to main duct through pre-insulated flexible duct,
and duly insulated and connect through round collars fixed to plenum.
All open ends shall be covered & protected after installation of ductwork with
polyethylene sheet.
The insulated duct is identified as per approved identification system.
4.7 Plumbing
Liaise with other contractors and facilities manager to isolate water supplies.
Isolate Hot & cold water pipes where necessary.
Drain down the water system where necessary.
When chasing out the walls firstly use the cable/pipe finder to locate any electric
cables or pipe work.
Mark the wall for the area to be chased out.
On plasterboard walls carefully cut out using a knife or saw.
If necessary remove any skirting boards by driving the bolster chisel behind the board
and carefully levering it away from the wall (gloves should always be worn)
If necessary to take up any floorboards these should first be checked with the
cable /pipe finder to ensure the area below the board is clear.
Using the bolster chisel lever up the board, remove all nails.

Risk Assessment – process of evaluating the risk arising from a hazard taking into
account the adequacy of any existing controls and deciding whether or not the risk is
acceptable
Tolerable Risk - Tolerable risk is defined as the risk that has been reduced to a level that
can be endure by HMC having regard to its legal obligations and its own HSE Policy
After the risk assessment of the identified hazard has been performed, it is mandatory
that necessary mitigating and control measures ( approved by safety inspector) are
established and implemented to reduce the risk into an acceptable level, if cannot be
eliminated, before start the work.
