8.7 Risk assessment

Risk - Combination of the likelihood of an occurrence of a hazardous event or exposure

and the severity of injury or ill health that can be caused by the event or exposure.

Risk Assessment – process of evaluating the risk arising from a hazard taking into
account the adequacy of any existing controls and deciding whether or not the risk is
acceptable

Tolerable Risk - Tolerable risk is defined as the risk that has been reduced to a level that
can be endure by HMC having regard to its legal obligations and its own HSE Policy

After the risk assessment of the identified hazard has been performed, it is mandatory
that necessary mitigating and control measures ( approved by safety inspector) are
established and implemented to reduce the risk into an acceptable level, if cannot be
eliminated, before start the work.
