C.Discussion of concepts (Explore)

You can note the names of the teachers, the
subjects they are teaching and the different
talents they have because these are the details
given in the story.

D.Developing Mastery (Explain)

Noting Details is a reading comprehension
skill that involves picking out, from a text, a
particular piece or pieces of information to
achieve a given purpose such as answering a
question in a test. When one notes details, he
keeps a brief record of something on a piece of
paper.
Whenever you are reading, you should be
constantly noting the important details. When
discussing reading comprehension, think of
details as the individual features, facts or
particulars in text. These details are essential to
develop reading comprehension.

C.Discussion of concepts (Explore)
Showing a chart using tenses of verbs.

D.Developing Mastery (Explain)

There are basically three tenses of verbs: past,

present and future. Verb tenses refer to the
exact time the action happened.
The present tense is formed by is, am or the
base form of the verb. S or es is added to the
base
form of the verb when the subject is plural.
Examples: “This is your English lesson. I want
you to be very attentive. The villagers need an
explanation” Mr. Cruz begins his talk.
The past tense is formed by adding d or ed to
the base form of the verb. Was or were are
the past tense of the verb be.
Examples: Everyday looked sad. He failed
English because he did not study hard.
The future tense is formed by using shall or
will with the base form of the verb.
Examples: Don’t go so fast Roy, you will get to
your school ahead of time.

E.Application and Generalization

Showing a chart using tenses of verbs.

D.Developing Mastery (Explain)

There are 3 simple tenses of verbs namely the

past, present and future.
Tenses of verbs tell us how an action relates to
the flow of time. Simple tenses usually refer to
a single action. In general, simple tenses
express facts and situations that existed in the
past, exist in the present, or will exist in the
future.
Example:
Past: I cleaned my cabinet yesterday.
Present: I clean my bedroom every day.
Future: I will clean my shoe rack later.

E.Application and Generalization

through filtering. B.Motivation (Engage)
.
What can you say about the picture?
So, this morning we are going to study about
separating mixtures through filtration.

C.Discussion of concepts (Explore)

C. Developing Mastery (Explain)

Filtration is the process of separating solid
substances from
a liquid through the use of a filter paper or any cloths
that can be used as a
filtering medium. These solid residues are trapped by
the filter paper or cloth,
which allow the liquid substances to pass through in
the process.
The teacher gives the meaning of difficult words.
1. filter – an apparatus containing a filter medium
2. filter medium – example filter paper or cloth
3. residue – a usual small amount of something that
remain after a process
has been completed or a thing has been removed
4. filtrate – something that remain after a process has
been completed or a
thing has been removed
D. Application and Generalization

- Sieving
- Sifting
- dry mixtures

What was our lesson yesterday? (separating mixtures
through picking)
Observe closely what I am going to do. What did I do
with the flour?
Okay, our lesson for today is about separating of
mixtures through sifting or sieving.

C.Discussion of concepts (Explore)

G.Developing Mastery (Explain)

Our lesson this morning deals with separating of dry
mixtures through sifting or
sieving. Dry mixtures can be separated through sifting
or sieving. Sifting is defined as
to pass through a sorting device like a screen to sort,
separate the coarse from the
fine particle, or to break up lumps, as o flour. Sieving
is separating bigger dry mixtures
such as sand and gravel. Sifting or sieving is another
technique of separating
mixtures.

H. Application and Generalization

(Elaborate)
To separate the components of a dry mixture sifting is
done.
Sifting - is used to separate smaller solid particles
from larger solid
particles.
- For example, the mixture of different sized solid
particles can
be put into a container that has a screen material at
the
bottom with holes of certain size.
- When the mixture is shaken, the smaller particles go
through
the screen leaving the larger particles in the container.
- Cooks, for example, sift flour to get a smaller particle
size for
backing leaving larger particles of flour in the sifter
above the
screen.
- Sand and gravel companies, for example, separate
rocks into
different sized particles for road building and other
construction projects using this method..
