Relate characteristics of light such as color and intensity to frequency and wavelength
I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of lesson 75% of the learners shall have 80% competence on:
a. Defining light.
b. Determining the different sources of light and its characteristics.
c. Relating light and its uses in their daily life activities.
d. Creating own source of light using localize materials.
II. LEARNING TASK
Topic: Light
Materials: gas, salt, oil, cotton balls, kandila, ppt,LED TV and laptop.
References: learners and teachers manual,
III. LEARNING STRATEGY
A. PREPERATION
Prayer
Greetings
Checking of attendance
Reminders
B. REVIEW
What is sound?
How sounds transmit and receive?
Do sounds need medium to travel?
What are the mediums of sounds?
Which mediums travel the fastest? Why?
C. MOTIVATION
The class will be divided into 2 groups to play the game.
The more the merrier, (list down the different sources of light)
D. ACTIVITY
Bright light
Materials needed: kandila, lampara, cotton balls and salt.
Procedure:
1. Prepare all the materials needed
2. Light all the materials:
Caution: be careful when you are lightning, you might burn yourself.
3. Observe the lightning of the different sources of light, the brightness and the intensity of
light.
ANALYSIS
What is light?
Which among the sources of light we used, has the highest intensity?
What kind of wave is the light?
Why did you say so, that one of the sources of light has the highest intensity or
brightness?
What are the different sources of light?
What part or our senses is the responsible for us to see?
How does the light make it possible for us to see?
Is there any energy transformation happen in the experiment?

Frequency is the number of waves passing a point in a second.
Wavelength is the distance between trough to trough and crest to crest.
Energy is the capacity to do work.n
Intensity or brightness of light will depends on the source and the distance from the
source.
Candela is the unit of luminous intensity.
Luminous intensity refers to the amount of light power.
Luminous object is an object capable of producing its own light.
Natural sources of light
Ex. Sun
Artificial sources of light
Ex. Kandila and florescent lamp.
Non-luminous object is an object that does not produce its own light.
Ex. Table
Transparent object are objects that light can be pass through.
Opaque object are object that light cannot pass through.
Energy transformation is needed to convert or transform form of energy to light.
Types of energy
Potential energy
Ex. Bulb( electric potential)
Chemical energy
Ex. Lamps
APPLICATION
Each group will create a simple project called “light in a bottle” as a source of light.
IV. GENERALIZATION
What is the importance of light? Site at least 2 importance of light in our daily life activity.
Do you think can you see without the presence of light?
Do you think our eyes are important? Why?
What are the different characteristics of light?
Are these characteristics of light is important in generating light? Why?
V. EVALUATION
In a 1 whole sheet of paper the students will answer the following:
______________SUN
______________LIGHT BULB
______________BLANKET
______________PAPER
______________STONE
3. What are the different characteristics of light and give their meaning?
Criteria
Development of ideas- 3pts
Construction of sentence- 2pts
Total- 5 pts
