St. Joshua sequence. 1. Begin the lesson by presenting this problem where the students will
(6:00-6:50) choose and explain their answer based on the given situation.
St. Benedict “A man is offered a job for 10 days. He has two options to have his
salary for the job. First, he will be given a total amount of P5,000 for
(6:50-7:40) the job. Second, he will be receiving a salary of P5 on the first day of
St. Luke work, P10 on the second day, P20 on the third day, and continue to
(7:40-8:30) double the amount each day until the end of the 10th day.”
St. Anthony *Which option will you choose and why?
(9:45-10:35) 2. To help students decide which option is better, they must find the
St. Claire total amount of salary in the second option.
(11:25-12:15)  By listing the amount of salary each day, the second option
will form a geometric sequence: {5, 10, 20, …}
 To complete the sequence until the tenth day, find the sum to
get the total salary. How much did you get?
3. Present the the definition and formula of Finite Geometric Series.
Use the previous scenario in finding the sum using the formula.

4. Present examples about problems involving finite geometric series.

5. To practice on the use of the formula, this problem is given. Ask

them to present their solution afterwards.
6. Wrap up and give final instruction/directions about the next lesson.

7. Evaluation:
Solve the following:
1. Find the sum of the first eight terms of the sequence 3,6,12,24,..
2. The sum of the six terms in a geometric sequence is 1,092. What is
the first term if the common ratio is 3?
8. Assignment
Answer the following:
1. Your grandfather wants to give you a cash gift for your birthday on
September 30. He gave you two choices:
a. A cash gift of P10,000 or
b. P1.00 on Sept 16, P2,00 on Sept. 17, P4.00 on Sept. 18 … and so on
with the last payment on your birthday. Which option will you choose?
Why?

sequence. B. Development of the Lesson:
2. differentiates a finite geometric 1. Begin the lesson by presenting this problem and ask the students to
sequence from an infinite illustrate and answer the problem:
geometric sequence “A rubber ball is dropped on a hard surface from a height of 80 feet and
bounces up and down. On each rebound, it bounces up exactly one -
half the distance it just came down.
 What is the total distance traveled by the ball before it comes
to rest?”

2. Define Infinite Geometric Series. Ask the students to differentiate it

from finite Geometric Sequence based on the formula and examples.
Use the given scenario in applying the formula.
3. Present examples of problems involving infinite Geometric Series.
4. To practice on the use of the formula, this problem is given. Ask
them to present their solution afterwards.

5. Wrap up and give final instruction/directions about the next lesson.

6. Quiz:
Answer the following:
1. Find the sum of the infinite geometric series 24,12, 16 …
2. A certain ball always rebounds to 4/5 of the distance of the previous
fall. Supposed it is to dropped from a height of 400 meters, what is the
total distance the ball has travelled before coming to rest?
7. Assignment:
Find the indicated series for each of the following infinite geometric
sequence.
1. {100, 50, 25, …}
2. {54,18,6,2,…}

Sequence/Series to a Geometric 4. Warm-up Activity (Review – presented in PPT)
Sequence/Series B. Development of the Lesson:
2. Solve problems involving 1. Hand Rule: Instruct the students to do the thumbs up if the given
sequences and series sequence is arithmetic, thumbs down or cross hands if not.
Direction: For each sequence, determine if it is an arithmetic sequence, a
geometric sequence or neither. If it is either, give the next term of the
sequence.
a. 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, …
b. 3, 12, 48, 192, 768, …

2. Present this where the students will analyze if it is an Arithmetic or

Geometric. Allot a time to solve and present their answers afterwards.
a. Alvin wants to surprise her wife, Donita on their wedding anniversary,
so he saves ₱200 on the 1st month of their lives as couple. He saves ₱400
on the 2nd month, and ₱800 on the 3rd month.
 How much would Alvin save on their 11th month
as couple?
 Compute the total amount Alvin saved from the
1st month up to the 11th month before their wedding anniversary?

3. Present the following steps in solving problems involving sequences.

Apply these in presenting problems afterwards.
 Determine the type of sequence involved in the problem.
 Use the appropriate formula.
 Substitute the needed values and simplify.

4. To familiarize and apply the steps using the formula, the following
problems are given. Ask them to present their solution afterwards.
A. Your father wants you to help him build a doghouse
in your backyard. He says he will pay you Php10 for
the first week and add an additional Php20 each week thereafter. The
project will take 5 weeks. How much money will you earn, in total, if you
work for the 5 weeks?
B. Tasty Restaurant claims that their product is so good
that people have told their friends about it. Two people heard about the
product the first day. On the second day, these two each told two friends,
and the pattern continued
a. How many people were told about the product on the sixth
day?
5. Wrap up and give final instruction/directions about the next lesson.
6. Quiz:
Answer the given problem:
Your science teacher is conducting an experiment about a
certain bacteria. If there are 12 bacteria in the culture at the
end of one day, and that number triples every day, find the
total number of bacteria In the culture at the end of the fifth
day?
C. Assignment:
1. Instruct the students to watch the video lesson posted on their google
classroom/group chats in preparation for the next lesson.
7. Assignment :
Ask the studnets to complete one or more sections of an Exit Sheet.
