GUIDE IN PREPARING TWO-WAY TABLE OF SPECIFICATIONS

1. Identify the competencies taught for the quarter. Include the code and the
competencies. If there is no available code, kindly type NO CODE.
2. Determine the teaching time spent per competency. It must have a standard total
of 36 instructional hours for subjects taught 4 hours a week, 27 hours for AP,
and 18 hours for EsP.
3. Compute for the number of items allotted per competency.
EXAMPLE:
Competency 4 is taught for 4 hours. You are doing a 30-item examination.
4 ÷ 36 (total hours) = 0.11
0.11 x 30 (total items) = 3.33 or 3 items
4. Determine the percentage of items per competency.
EXAMPLE:
Competency 4 is taught for 3 items. You are doing a 30-item examination.
3 ÷ 30 (total items) = 0.1
0.1 x 100% = 10%
5. Identify the item placement for each competency. Classify what cognitive level is
being followed by the item. Refer to the table below as a reference adapted from
DepEd Order no. 8, s. 2015.
